Hate to be nitpicky, but her ear drums would have ruptured after firing that handgun so close to her head.

Emotionally the strongest ep yet. Can't wait for the finale but also will be sad to see the season end so quick.

Spoiler:
The French were the last to hold out? Really? The French?

I'm still not all that fond of the series as a whole, but I thought Laurie Holden and Noah Emmerich were fantastic in this episode. Finally, we have characters/performers that generate some emotional investment.

Great ep. As a reader of the comic I was very surprised at the door opening. Guess it's a good chance for exposition.

[ob] Holy Shit! That was fucking great! [/ob]

I can't stand the blonde lady, I think her acting skills are just bad. Last week she was the weakest part and tonight was the same.

Other than that, wow! Really amazing.

When they came back from commercials and showed the guy in the CDC, it felt like a Lost-esque scene (for the ones that like Lost). Of course in Lost they wouldn't meet until the end of the next season. ;)

The show is not perfect but right now is one of the best hours in TV.

I'm really loving this show now, and it sucks that it will probably be a year or more until new episodes.

I was thinking about which destination I would've voted for, the CDC or Fort Benning. The CDC was closer, but in the middle of an overrun city. The fort was farther away, but even if it were deserted, it would probably have some food, supplies, and maybe weapons.

And what about the family that decided to break off to go to Alabama to find relatives that may not even be there? I would rather stick wth the group, I think.

You give me a 6 shooter? Fuck that, give me the shotgun.

Pretty brutal on the zombie killing this episode.

No kidding - still surprised by what AMC let's them get away with violence-wise. Pickaxe to the head, okay. Pickaxe to the head close-up splatter cam, huh... ;)

So the old guy was just going to stand there silently and do nothing as that cop shot the other cop in the back with that shotgun? Real hell of a guy there. Just the type you'd want in your group...

What was the guy at the CDC testing before the shit hit the fan? Was it Walker brain tissue?

I'm surprised that a couple of you criticized Laurie Holden's acting. I thought she's given 2 straight really solid dramatic performances following the death of her character's sister.

I also thought the score during the scene when they were driving to the CDC was really solid. Bear McCreary is a really solid composer. Human Target on FOX misses him tremendously.

Overall, a very solid dramatic episode.

BTW, AMC absolutely needs to sign Lennie James up for season 2...as a series regular. He would be an awesome addition to the group. We need more development/payoff on the relationship they formed in the Pilot.

I can't think of too many shows that have improved this much this quickly; Babylon 5 is the last that really comes to mind. Strong writing, great acting, even a touch of black humor to keep things moving.

"We all cared about her, and I promise we'll be as gentle as we can."

Cut to Daryl driving a pick through zombie skull.

I like the CDC angle but I guess they won't linger on it beyond next episode or into the season 2 premier; if there's no government/other scientists, I don't see how Emmerich's efforts succeed. I do think though that for the interest of being able to keep people on the show, the writers may need a cure for the living while leaving the dead still zombified.

I agree.

I was expecting him to show up via radio contact and join the group any time now. But he is busy, he's working on more than one show now(this is the third I think), and like a movie too. Not sure how/if that affects it.

Spoiler:
I see he will be back this year, according to IMDB, in next week's episode.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Wildfire" -- 11/28/10

I thought it has been kind of strange through the course of these episodes that in some zombie beat-downs they wear face shields and other gear to, I guess, protect from the blood splatter, and then in other scenes they aren't concerned at all about the blood splatter and get it all over themselves.

With all the beat-downs in the camp, one would think that some of the blood or other splatter would get in or infect someone that didn't suffer an actual bite.

Good episode though ... I wish this first season was more than 6 eps.

To be fair, he did give the other guy a very stern look.

That was from John Murphy's incredible score for Sunshine. (If you look it up, beware that the song titles contain a major spoiler.)
