Re: The Walking Dead -- "Wildfire" -- 11/28/10
Has anyone else read the comic? Some of the changes are interesting... new characters, different outcomes, completely new plot lines. Case in point: the CDC plot line is brand new.
Personally, I think most of the changes work so far. The comic is just so unrelentingly depressing... it was my main problem with it. I know, I know, shocking: the end of the world is depressing. But in the comic there's just so little hope and so much graphic death (and, for several issues, torture).
Also, my suspicion at this point is that they're going to merge the characters of Morgan and Tyreese.

Kirkman made a comment regarding Iron-E that he was not a replacement or stand-in for Tyreese, so I suspect we'll meet him next year.

I just saw on my AMC app for my IPhone that Season 1 will come out March 2011. It says the DVD & Blu-Ray are up for pre-order on Amazon with a street date of March 8, 2011.

Given the choice between a watered-down version of the comic and what the (outbound) writers have opted for so far, I'd say this is the best option available to them.

I don't know that an airdate has been announced yet, so of course this is pure speculation on my part.
Or do you think it could be used during the summer?

Everything I've seen has been that the show will start sometime in October again. But with 13 episodes I would guess the beginning of Oct., so it's done before Christmas.

Keep in mind that AMC likes to show their flagship series in the same Sunday 10PM timeslot. With Breaking Bad scheduled to come back late next year (July) they probably will run that and then start the second season of Walking Dead right after, which would be towards the beginning of October.
Although July is when Mad Men usually premieres, so I don't know what they're going to do with that. It's possible they run Breaking Bad and Mad Man concurrently, like they did with Mad Men and Rubicon.

I don't see any way they don't do the premier as close to Halloween as possible. I would be completely shocked.

In an interview with EW, The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens) denies reports that director Frank Darabont fired the hit AMC show’s writing staff. She also confirmed that all of the principal cast — or, presumably, the actors whose characters are still alive at the end of this Sunday’s season finale — are signed up for multiple seasons of the zombie show.
Earlier this week, Deadline reported that Shawshank Redemption filmmaker Frank Darabont — who developed the Walking Dead for television and directed the pilot — had let go the show’s writers, including Murder One co-creator Charles “Chic” Eglee

I don't blame him for firing those hacks, if he actually did.
A good cast, unbelievable production values for TV, and lousy writing.

Finally got around to watching this episode; loved loved loved the end at the CDC, especially Rick at the door. Great acting. Can't wait for the season finale tonight.
