Loved Greer explaining that a master sergeant's job is to keep butter bars from making mistakes

edit: overall it was a let down this week

Awful tragic way to get a brand new shuttle (since the aliens fixed it and all).

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Visitation" -- 11/23/10

I know a lot of people on here can't stand Chloe for one reason for another. I personally can't sympathize, as I like her quite a bit (same with Bonnie on TVD), but to each their own. However, I think Ronald stepped way, way, WAY over the line in this episode. To my knowledge, there's been no talk from Young or any of the other command-tier personnel about spacing Chloe should she become a bona-fide threat to the crew. Indeed, in a prior episode, Young even trusted her enough to operate Destiny's flight controls.

Although I really like SG-U as a whole, this plotline needs a total overhaul, and Ronald needs a serious smack-down. I was beginning to really like Greer after helping Eli "get it on" with Ginn, but he effectively destroyed that in this episode. I'm sure he thinks he's doing the Right Thing and all that, but if I were Young and found out about his little "please forgive me" plea to Chloe, I'd be tempted to put a bullet between his eyes (if Matthew or Eli didn't get to him first).

This episode was fine otherwise. I still have great hopes for this show and hope SyFy doesn't nuke it prematurely (like they usually do).

^ I'd disagree with your statement. If you recall the episode a few odd back where Destiny was 'testing' Young one of his first options was giving up Chloe to aliens so they'd stop attacking. Likewise, Greer knows that if Young needs her taken care of in some way that he'll like be taking care of that. On top of that he's trying to protect Matt at the same time.

As for the main story, it was just damn weird. Did anybody else get the impression at the end of the final guy not actually dying. Perhaps they saved him before he cold killed him as well. Talk about survivors guilt.

I really felt bad for the guy that caused the tree to crash on top of that other lady. That was just wrong.

I still don't know what to think of the baby story line. For the life of me I can't figure out if she's crazy, the ship did it, or that guy is lying and/or had his memory of that wiped out. If somebody/thing did reanimate them and send the shuttle then it's well possible that they saved the baby too. However, that would mean their daughter is still out there presumably with them/it.

Eli still getting the shaft from Chloe, especially after his lady friend died. "You're the hardest to say goodbye to."

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Visitation" -- 11/23/10

I just did a mini-marathon to finish the season. The finale was kind of ho hum, but I found this episode interesting.

I liked it, but I have to willfully ignore the illogical premise of the survivors reverting/experiencing their deaths again. It really makes no sense, especially for the woman who suffered the physical damage of a tree falling on her. Putting that out of mind, it was a pretty neat Twilight Zone-ish episode. I was also unclear about the ending because based on the video that last guy didn't die before the aliens found him...but he said he remembered dying.

Regarding Chloe and Greer. I thought it was a great scene, and it made sense to me. Based on the tone of the show, and the decisions Young and Rush have made it is logical for Greer and Chloe to assume that if she becomes a threat they will make the hard choice to eliminate that threat.

As for the baby, I may be mixing in a scene from the finale that reinforced this, but I think the show was leaning towards the ship messed with her head to relieve her suffering. It made little sense to begin with for the aliens to save her fetus/baby and bring it back to the planet. And between Rush's imaginary friends on the bridge and especially the ship "testing" Young, they are are really expanding the notion of the ship tinkering with their heads.
