Smallville Patriot Preview Images

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
In an effort to protect the rest of the team, Oliver (Justin Hartley) decides to register for the Vigilante Registration Act to see what the government plans to do with the new law. As he suspected, it was a trap to lure superheroes to an undisclosed location where he is confined to a jail and subjected to a battery of brutal tests under the supervision of Col. Slade (guest star Michael Hogan, "Battlestar Galactica"). Aquaman (guest star Alan Ritchson) and his new wife Mera (guest star Elena Satine) team up with Clark to free Oliver. Lois is frustrated when Clark continues to push aside her offers to help the team and sets out to prove she can play with the big boys.

Episode 9 of 22

Written by John Chisolm

Directed by Tom Welling

This sounds amazingly similar to
Spoiler:
Marvel's Civil War storyline.

When did Aquaman become such a douche?

It's the same guy he plays in Blue Mountain State.

The whole Vigilante Registration Act thing was too-X-menish. Pretty lame. And this should have been the Amanda Waller storyline if they were going to do it.

I liked Aqua-Jugs though. Very nice.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a worse cold open on this or any other show.

Yeah, Aqua-Jugs was nice.

Ok episode. Nice to see Colonel Tigh again. I like the VRA; surprised it wasn't brought up sooner.

And for those who care: seasons 1-9 of smallville will be $10 each on black friday at bestbuy and probably amazon and other stores.

Alan Ritchson is looking good.
Why aren't they still looking for Chloe?

I guess having the zipper of her body suit halfway down helps Aqua-Jugs swim faster.

And at "Squid Lips'"

TIGH
with an eye patch no less

Clark needs to go get the real suit from the fortress and start flying
if they end up having him beat every single major villain from the superman lore before he even becomes superman what will be the point of those flashes to the future

I thought I was playing "Alan Wake" again with all the talk about the darkness.

Hope we get a Tigh/Gaeda reunion

Could anyone make out the unidentified people in the "Wanted" poster. I'm guessing the person at the bottom right with the top hat is Zatanna. One might be Cyborg but I have no idea about the other two.

Maybe it's just me be that was hard for me to get through. The acting but the aqua couple was just so bad and the story did nothing for me.

Yeah, the dolphins acted better than Mira (or whatever her name was). The story wasn't terrible but the plotting seemed disjointed.

Didn't realize the old dude was meant to be Deathstroke. That final awkward shot made me think they were bringing back Deadshot. Yeah, I don't see that old guy as Deathstroke one bit.

Re: Smallville -- "Patriot" -- 11/19/10

I thought this episode was boring as shit and I love this show to death.

Basically I felt like I was watching a 42 minute Political commercial on the Vigilante Registration Act hosted by Colonel Tigh.

I don't know why, but I fucking hate Aquaman on this show. Maybe it's just the way Ritchson portrays him, but he comes across as a smug douche bag to me and I think he's a crappy actor. Justin Hartley was a much better Arthur Curry in the failed Aquaman Pilot from a few years ago. And honestly, I didn't care about Aqua Jugs either. I'd rather stare at Erica Durance eating for 1 hour than listening to that chick recite dialogue.

Even the little moment that Lois and Clark had at the end couldn't make up for this stinker. Seriously? This is the episode that Tom Welling chose to direct this season.

The midget aqua-jugs was hilarious, her model walk, the suit unzipped halfway, just too hilarious

I think that sums it up.

One positive I did take away is how they are using the end of episodes are cliffhangers. They know this is it so they're not trying to tie everything up in every single episode.

I did like that Lois convinced Clark to tell the rest of the gang. However, I would have liked other members to be up on the satcom so you got the feeling he was reacing out and addressing the entire team.

Are we now on a break for a while? It feels like they're burning through the episodes fast.

I could be mistake but hasn't Allison Mack been removed from the opening credit sequence? Is she even slated to return?

I'd expect two more episodes and then probably nothing new until sweeps.

Seems like they are making him more like the dick Aquaman from the Justice League cartoon. I almost wish they'd go the other route and make him like the Aquaman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon! Now that would be funny.

There's two more episodes left for December and Chloe shows up in January (but for how long I don't know).
