How many Lisa episodes are they going to do this season?

So close to dumping this.

"How many Lisa episodes are they going to do this season?"

My reaction, as well, but you guys beat me to it!

I find it hilarious that Lisa episodes are apparently so objectionable.

It's because they tend to be the opposite of hilarious.

I can't say I've ever noticed any grand difference in comedy level between Lisa episodes and other episodes.

Looking just at this season, "Loan-a Lisa" was hilarious, "MoneyBART" was OK, and while "Elementary School Musical" wasn't great, it was the Homer and Bart subplot that REALLY sucked.

For someone who is supposed to be smart, this is the 3rd or 4th time that Lisa has been shocked to discover that Marge was just as smart and successful at school as Lisa before Marge met Homer. Hopefully it sticks this time.

I actually liked the non-Lisa stuff.

LOL!

Everyone knows, that even in the golden years the Lisa episodes sucked.

I laughed when Nelson punched out the Marge pop-up next to Bart.

Lisa episodes are the absolute best. No, I'm not kidding.

As for the ending, wow! Lisa lies to Marge and there's no resolution. I don't know if I've ever seen that.

It's on Hulu, but Lisa told Marge she'd be happy to grow up to be just like her. Marge smiles, they hug, and then we get an over-the-shoulder shot of Lisa frowning at the lie she told her mom. Then there's a joke with Bart and Nelson, then Homer and Maggie, and that's it. That's a very different ending, if you ask me.

Also, Maggie gets her toy. It then switches to the Texxon gas station where we see ALL of the boxes have been opened.

I hadn't found Ralph to be that funny in recent episodes, but I liked his bit in this one.

Really?

Lisa's Substitute? Lisa's Rival? Lisa the Iconoclast? Lisa the Vegetarian? Lisa's Wedding? The Summer of 4 ft 2? The Secret War of Lisa Simpson?

You honestly think these are bad episodes? To me, they're all-time classics.

Agreed. Lisa isn't a funny character, but there have been some great Lisa episodes. However, this is coming from someone who hasn't been watching the show for the past six years or so (not sure why I'm even in this thread...).

I actually thought this was a pretty good episode.

The ending was a nice one to me, even if Lisa sort of lied to Marge. On the one hand, Lisa doesn't want to turn out to be a housewife, but she does want to turn out as good a person as her mother. Lisa realized she was being inconsiderate of Marge's feelings and did what she could do make up for that. Just because she doesn't want to do what her mom does doesn't mean she can't also respect and love her for doing it. Still, the idea wasn't original as we've seen Lisa react to Marge this way in the past. You'd think by now she's respect her mom, but whatever, she's a kid I guess.

That aside, I thought there were a lot of funny jokes. I loved the exchange between Bart and Marge in the car, with her thinking Milhouse was the bully. Homer pouring gasoline on the dolls and setting them on fire was great, as was the cut to the gas station and all the empty boxes.

Nelson: "You'll crack like one of those chicken turds rich people eat."
Bart: "You mean...an egg?"

I loved how Homer complained that the glass was a barrier then the attendant tells him there is no glass and slaps him outright. Homer continues and all the attendant does is slap him in response.

I love how people complain about continuity problems in a cartoon that has all of the characters exactly the same age 21 years after they started.

Except Mike Scioscia. But that might just be due to his exposure to radiation...
