The Walking Dead -- Series Premiere -- "Days Gone By" -- 10/31/10

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
By djariya at 2010-10-31

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
The survivors of a world overrun with zombies are followed in this horror series. In the first episode, a sheriff's deputy emerges from a coma to find few people but far too many flesh-eating "walkers" who have died and come back to life. The lawman encounters another member of the human race, who tells him there's a refugee center in Atlanta, so he heads there with hopes of finding his missing wife and son.

"Days Gone By"

Teleplay by Frank Darabont
Directed by Frank Darabont

The episode runs 90 minutes with commercials. There is at least 6 re-airs all week in case you miss it.

** FYI, a pirated copy of this episode apparently leaked onto the internet as a few people in the other Walking Dead thread have mentioned watching it. I know it's tempting, but I hope you chose to wait. If you have seen it already, please hold off on discussing detailed parts of the plot until after it completes airing at 11:30pm ET or spoilerize it. ***

The 1st season will be 6 episodes. There was a rumor that the show already got renewed for a 2nd season and that was incorrect.

Here is the trailer once again if you haven't seen it:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/R1v0uFms68U?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/R1v0uFms68U?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Really looking forward to this series.

Also FYI for those who are cableless and want to watch this show legally. AMC does not stream their shows online for free.

The show will be available on Itunes, Amazon.com, Cinema Now, Xbox and Playstation.

If you are in the Portland, OR area, "Cort & Fatboy" are showing the pilot (and presumably the rest of the series) for free at The Bagdad Theater on Sundays. They showed the final season of LOST and the HD image looks really sharp and the sound isn't bad either.

Second this. The only real time I've ever been pissed off at them.

As for me, I wait until tomorrow night to watch from Amazon. In HD, running from my laptop onto my HDTV. May not be as good as true HD, but it'll be better than the shit that DirecTV will be running it in.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Series Premiere -- "Days Gone By" -- 10/31/10

I just read the first volume a couple weeks ago to get ready for this. Need to get the rest eventually.

As far as the series I'm pretty excited to see what its like. I'm not sure how long it can go before it will get old, I personally get kind of sick of zombies at times. It seems like it should be decent though at least and AMC has a pretty good record with their original series so far. The only one that kind of lost me was Rubicon, but I may give that another shot once it hits Blu-ray.

As someone who's seen the pilot (and will be watching again), let me say this is the best pilot I've seen in years. From the way it was shot, to the zombie kills, the characters and all the potential stories, if you like good TV, you have to watch this.

Don't have this on U-Verse. Great, I'll find other ways to watch it.

I'm sure it's all about $$ but wouldn't more people watching the channel = more eyes on their endless commercials? Then again, why do I pay almost $70 for a basic lineup that's riddled with ads for Geico and Burger King?

Anyway, looking forward to this.....when it hits Blu-Ray.

U-Verse doesn't have AMC?? or No AMC HD??

Edit: I just checked and I guess your in the same boat as us on Directv, No AMC HD on U-Verse. Whatever, It's not going to stop me from enjoying it on TV tonight.

i think with the hype that this has generated, it will translate into record ratings for AMC and i foresee a pickup announcement sometime this week for a 2nd season.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Series Premiere -- "Days Gone By" -- 10/31/10

Just surprised they didn't initially pick this up for 12-13 episodes.

Oh well. Can't wait. Watching AMC all day anyway since they're the only channel that seems to be showing horror flicks today.

And I have no interest in watching this cut into 4:3. I'll 'find' a way to watch it like everyone else. Ridiculous. I don't need 9 fucking QVC HD channels.

I don't think it's going to be 4:3 in SD. Mad Men and Rubicon both aired in 16:9, even in SD.

Didn't know that. Still rather see this in HD, so I'll just catch it 'later'.
