The Mentalist -- The 3rd season thread -- Thursdays on CBS
By djariya at 2010-09-23
Synopsis for "The Blood on his hands"
Spoiler:
Okay, I totally forgot about this last week as I saw some of you bump the season premiere thread. Looking forward to the Red John storyline again. This show doesn't get alot of weekly traffic, so once again here's the thread of record for this season.
Oh and Tim Kang plays CBI agent Cho, not Chow

I'm genuinely surprised at the lack of viewership this show receives from members of this site. I think it's one of the best current fall shows and anticipate it every week. To each his own I guess.
Anyway, this last weeks episode was enjoyable, however not as good as the previous episode (the one referred to in the OP).

I watch it every week. Just don't really have much to say about it. I'd be happy to post after each episode saying that I enjoyed if you'd like

I'm just surprised at the lack of comments it get over something like The Good Guys, Chuck, or even Hawaii Five-O. All of which have plots as deep as a puddle in a parking lot, where as this show actually has content as well as a sense of humor.

I watch it every week too, but as for most of these procedurals, I end up talking to myself most of the time, hence this gets a season thread. Hawaii Five-O is fluff action entertainment, but fun even though last week's episode sucked ass. Most of the comments in the Chuck threads are guys wanting to do very naughty things to Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and The Good Guys is just a goofy, but fun action comedy. To each their own as you said. As I've learned here, you can't force someone to talk about something if they just don't have anything to say that's worth a damn.
If people here would rather talk about that thing called "Snooki" or Ice Road Truckers in India or King Crab seasons (whatever the hell that thread is) so be it.

The last four episodes have frustrated me. While the episode Baker directed was interesting and very well made; The "Mentalist" hasn't done anything clever for the last month. It just seems like Patrick Jane's IQ has dropped 30 points in the last few weeks. I really hope once it returns from it's break that Jane is back to being a witty, clever genius as opposed to just a smart ass consultant.

"Tiger, Tiger" as in Tiger Tiger, burning bright...the poem that Red John read to Patrick at the end of season 2. They did the little memory flashback/montage at the beginning of the episode that included the line so we'd all remember

Bump
New episode tonight
"Bloodsport"
Also, Simon Baker signed a new contract with the show to stay with it through season 7....should it make it that far. He will also get a "Producer" credit in season 5...also should it make it that far.

This weeks episode was fun.
Lisbon: You did What???
Patrick: I wrote the letter.
Lisbon: I heard you the first time.
Patrick: Then why did you ask?

Did anyone catch the "very special" Mentalist last night? I thought the final scene was great, but the rest of the episode was weak.

Yeah it was pretty good. I liked that guy, it would have been nice if they could have drawn out that story line more.

I agree, they should have setup that final scene more. I think they still could have done it in a single episode, if they had one or two more scenes, maybe before, maybe after the illness is revealed. The case of the week was pretty weak, so they could have cut it down even further, really messing with their regular formula and making it a "very special" episode, or just cut out the Rigsby/Van Pelt b-story.
