Just added HBO Wednesday and DVR'd the first 2 eps...3 episode marathon tonight.

Has it somewhat lived up to the hype so far?

Interesting ep. I'm guessing Jimmy is now going off to make a name for himself outside of Jersey.

That agent is probably the most evil person on the show, and he isn't a gangster.

Getting better and better. Jimmy seems to have stirred the hornets nest with that heist.

Van Alden is a badass. Seems like he is torn between morality and corruption. Something going on with him. Loving Michael Shannon in this.

"The roast is good" :)

I'm a little in the dark on the whole Chalky thing...

^ We don't know yet who killed Chalky's driver. Great exchange between him and Nucky where he "up's" his cut of the deal to 50%.

Anyone else think of Al Swearengen in Deadwood when Lucky Luciano visited the doctor? ;) Also, looks like another Sopranos cast member shows up (Max Casella)

)

I would say it was the Polish guy and the 'Garlic Eaters' who went down there to stir the pot - in the meeting they mentioned that Nucky gave the booze business to the blacks

Why would he not take his wife and kid with him? She doesn't work or is it for their safety?

^ Likely one of two things: their safety or the fact that she slept with the shop owner while he was away at war.

The Klan is also around, they were handing out fliers on the boardwalk.

That's what I'm thinking was well especially with the "Liquor Kills" written on the car. I don't think it was a racial thing yet. The guy that changed his name (I'm not down on the names yet) got forced out of the liquor cutting business and he and his "partners" were looking for some revenge.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "Broadway Limited" -- 10/03/10

I figured it was the guys who were talking to "Doyle" or Doyle's group himself. The "Liquor Kills" scratched into the car makes it pretty apparent it was because Chalky is now handling the business.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "Broadway Limited" -- 10/03/10

I assumed it was Doyle who killed the black guy and they are gonna blame it on the KKK. I dont think the KKK would write liquor kills like that or I dont see a reason for it.

Yep....it was Doyle and his lackies. Looks like Jimmy in Chicago with Capone should be pretty good. I think adding a Capone storyline was the smart move.

I'm thinking the latter. I believe that Jimmy thinks, perhaps rightly so, that the kid isn't his. Remember how he thought it was unusual that his son stayed still for so long in for the photos?
Jimmy cutting all ties is the right movie IMO, as he can become a full gangster without having to worry about family.

The KKK were huge supporters of prohibition and were known to attack bootleggers and speakeasies.
