My mistake, meant to say Rita's mother, which was yet another mistake, since I thought Paul's mother was her in this episode for some reason.

If that's the case...it's definitely weird that she wouldn't even be there.

John Lithgow was such an awesome opponent to Dexter, two episodes in, i donīt even see them try to top that. Nor should they i guess. Season 4 might have been the best I think... so far

There's not going to be a central villain this season, kind of like season two.

I kind of like the fact that there is no "big bad" this year personally. They've done it three times already so its fine to not do it again.

There sure are a lot of serial killers in Miami. I really don't like how Dexter just happens to come across some blood (with his Superman eyes?), and lo and behold - it traces back to a serial killer.

And would a serial killer dispose of bodies in steel drums only to have them floating on the water so visible for someone to question what's in it? All it would take is someone to find it, report to the police - and then they set up a hideout/surveillance there waiting for the next dropoff and bingo - you caught yourself a serial killer.

The Angel/LaGuerta thing better be going somewhere useful, because I don't care about their financial/trust squabbles.

Wasn't Quinn destraught when his chick blew her brains out? That only happend 2 or 3 weeks earlier in the show's timeline I believe. He got over that pretty quickly. And anyone watching S4 and S5 back to back may be alarmed at the substantial amount of weight Quinn lost in the span of one day.

If my girlfriend killed herself, but then I found out that she shot one of my best friends, killed someone I knew, started dating me because of my job, and was the secret daughter of a mass murder, I'd get over it pretty quickly.

The Angel/LaGuerta stuff is pure filler and I think the only reason they are showing it is because they are full members of the cast and the show has to give the actors something to do.

I don't really mind Astor or Cody. It is very rare for a child actor not to stuck. I liked wish they had stuck around because I enjoyed Dexter's interactions with them and the new family dynamic. Shipping the off seems like a cop out.

I was wondering why they didn't seem more broken up by Rita's death.

Deb: (to Quinn) "Fuckpuddle!"

Lots of hate toward an actress who must be all of what, 12? (Astor)
Give the poor girl a break

Well I don't necessarily mean the full weight of the distress being that he lost his girlfriend, but just the whole situation as you stated. He was obviously greatly affected when it happened... confused, etc. But a week or so later he's just enjoying life and doesn't have a care in the world and seems to have a thing for Deb (not just sexual). Just seems kind of off.

Not to mention just prior to Quinn's girlfriend blowing her brains out the other day she had murdered Deb's boyfriend/grandpa.

I can't recall but did Quinn and Deb have a "unknowingly dated a murderer" heart to heart last season? That seems like a conversation they should have.

Every guy Deb has dated has been tortured and/or murdered. Maybe she should just stay single for a while.

That's one of the problems this series has... the police department seem to be too closely involved with the killers in a lot of cases...

Deb dated the Ice Truck Killer
Deb dated Anton who was tortured by The Skinner (George King)
Deb dated Lundy who was killed by Trinity's daughter
Quinn dated Trinity's daughter (aka Lundy's killer)
Dexter's wife Rita was killed by Trinity
Doakes was fingered as the Bay Harbor Butcher
Dexter dated Lila who tried to kill Rita's kids
Miguel Prado was listed as being killed by The Skinner

You figure Internal Affairs would want to investigate this police department for their continued personal involvement with bad people.

It's a TV show. If things that wouldn't happen in real life didn't happen in the show, it would be boring. Wow, people are just picking this show apart with the logic of "that wouldn't happen in real life". Calm down people, it's a television show.

I kind of get the feeling she's got it for Quinn, but is stringing him along for now...

Well since he's headed either for Dexter's table or a Doakes-like end I guess this just continues the trend!

What about the guy she met at the gym in season 2 who was writing that book the Ice Princess that Deb thought was about her but was actually a children's book? I think they just broke up and he didn't get mutilated or killed in any way

What about the fantastic use of the harp in this one!
Felt like I was watching an old Hammer film. LOL!
