Can't stand this version of McGarrett.
at how the one who isn't a cop keeps getting put into the most danger.
And why didn't the bad guys just kidnap the kid to begin with?

This show has disappointed me so far. The pace in both episodes is horrible, on top of that "life or death" high paced music is in the background even when it's completely unneeded. Plus every time I see Alex, I start to miss Moonlight all over again. Damn it CBS.

Of course they had to tone down the show compared to the Pilot. I thought episode 2 was fine. It focused alot on the characters, specifically Kona and of course Danny & McGarrett. The jokes/humor are IMO working and making it a little more different than your standard cop show. What's funny to me is how Danny absolutely hates being in Hawaii.

Like Castle, another predictable cop show that rises to the top due to a great cast and comedic timing. I thought this was another fun episode. The banter is okay, but the bits like the lead acting cool while he walks the wrong way on a rooftop is great. The bit about the guy is focused for 42 minutes a day, for the rest he's a baked potato was good too.
Shows like this are easy to poke at, but they they can be a lot of fun to watch too. I hope we get a lot more episodes like the first two.
I do have one question. I don't know much about guns. Why was the backup one they gave Kona an odd choice? Is it illegal, undependable, a pea shooter ... ?

I'm a week behind on this show (just finished this one), but why on earth did they feel they needed to do an episode so early on with an international conspiracy? I get the feeling these cops are down-to-earth, street-wise guys, but they're putting them on league with the Secret Service.
I'm also having trouble with the level of technology used in this show. Everything's instant, from identifying perps via a fingerprint reader on an iPhone, to throwing suspect's photos around on a Microsoft Surface, to using a series of high-def traffic cams to follow bad guys through the streets. Some of that's ok, but it's a little much.
These guys just don't seem like the high-tech kind to me and I'd love to see them solve more crimes without it.

Yeah I thought it was hilarious that Chin Ho could be in the van and have access to all the security cameras inside the mansion-casino.
