RH was pretty bad, I thought this show was much better.

I think the biggest failure here reflecting on it is that Arnett is not a suitable lead for a show. He's awesome in a smaller dose, but I think this was just Arnett overkill.

Despite being a fan of the leads, this was disappointing. I'll give it another couple, as some shows need time to grow, but not a great pilot.

Surprised at the negative reaction. This has easily been added to my watch list. I thought it was a great start, and the show has potential.

Disaster. Arnett just isn't good\interesting enough to be a lead, and he has zero chemistry with Russell.

I did get excited the first time I head Fa'ad talk, because I thought it was Matt Berry from The IT Crowd... but it wasn't.

Get rid of Russell. Keep the girl if you must, but no loss if she was dropped as well. The rest of the cast/characters could make for an interesting show, but the precocious teenage daughter could not be a bigger TV cliché, and the insipid and forced "relationship" halted the show every time it came up.

Re: Running Wilde -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- 09/21/10

While I would agree that Raising Hope seemed the better of the two, overall, I thought the show was pretty funny. I think it's simply too soon to fully judge the show.

I felt that a lot of Arrested Development's humor came from long-standing setups that didn't pay off until a few episodes later. So, I'm expecting similar payoffs from Running Wilde. As a blatant parallel, I feel that there's more to the name "Puddle", like "Maebe" and "Anyang" in AD.

While I don't expect this show to last too long, I do feel that it'll take another episode or two to really hit its stride, so I'm willing to stick with it. And I have zero interest in anything else in the same time slot, so I expect I'll watch until it's cancelled.

Agreed. I enjoyed it. I've subscribed to it on Hulu. Let's see where it goes.

Fa'ad is played by Peter Serafinowicz, from Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Look Around You, and many other things. He's totally brilliant. I'll watch the show just for him.

Although I will say this, kstublen was correct in recommending The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.

I liked this show better than Raising Hope but it may be for the fact that I like Keri Russell.

This show was better than Hope. I dug it and will keep watching.

Is Keri related to Kurt? In some scenes she sure as hell looked like him! Ewww

Not really a valid argument. You have to look at the ratings of shows around each to determine how it did in retention, you have to factor in the erosion of network TV in general (Less people watch it every year).

Bottom line, ratings in 2003 mean nothing compared to 2010.
