CONAN -- premieres Nov 8 on TBS (very funny?)
With 49 days and one hour and 45 minutes to go before the premiere,
I figured Conan O'Brien's new TBS talk show could use its own thread.

Funny video. Is it just me, or does the logo wording at the very end, coupled with the red stripe of the progress bar and the black background, make the video look like a big Tootsie Roll?

Max Weinberg will not be on Conan O'Brien's new TBS show
New York Times reports that Max Weinberg will not be a part of Conan O’Brien’s TBS show. Guitarist Jimmy Vivino has revealed in an interview that he will take over the position as bandleader. Vivino had filled in for Weinberg when the drummer was absent from Conan's NBC shows. The 59-year-old Weinberg has his own retro-style Big Band, and continues as to tour with Bruce Springsteen. O’Brien's representatives had no comment on the story.

true, it wasn't officially announced, but after that scathing article came out about Weinberg's behavior on the show, I thought the writing was on the wall.

there's no way this isn't going to be as good as, or even better than his old late night show. anticipating this greatly!

Re: CONAN -- premieres Nov 8 on TBS (very funny?)
Got an email today with an invite for a "super secret test show" before the show airs. Couple of the days happen to fall into a vacation I'm taking so I took them up on the offer. We'll see what this is all about.

I mentioned it in the baseball thread, but I rarely watch TBS. Yesterday I was tuned in because of the playoffs. The previews for Conan's new show were hilarious. I'm really interested in checking it out.

Copied from Onion AV Club news
The real, totally understandable reason why Max Weinberg left Conan O'Brien
by Sean O'Neal October 7, 2010
The news of Max Weinberg’s departure from the Conan O’Brien team gave rise to numerous theories, mostly stemming from that intentionally vague explanation of “mutual agreement”—just the sort of non-statement that’s been employed by various publicity departments and guys who have been dumped for eons. But today Fancast spoke with Weinberg, who explained the real reason he won’t be returning to Los Angeles: Two weeks after Conan’s run on The Tonight Show ended, he had “12 hours of massively invasive open-heart surgery” that influenced his decision to stay home in New Jersey. After all the nasty speculation that it may have been about Weinberg trying to make the jump to Jay Leno’s show or even just a matter of money, there’s nothing like the words “massively invasive open-heart surgery” to hammer home the guilt.
