Well...I can guarantee all I will not be watching football tonight and as far as Boardwalk Empire goes...I do not have HBO let alone cable so The Gates has my vote!!!! :)

I understand why this show can't make it on ABC. For crying out loud, it's ABC. That by itself tells me everything I need to know. But why can't they make this show for one of the basic cable channels? This show rocked and deserves a longer life.

I do not understand it either. This show was decent enough and easily better than some of the crap you see on channels such as Sci Fi. Oh well.....look forward to watching it over again in the future. :cool:

The Gates was pitched and developed at ABC and budgeted with network money. If anything you should blame the creators of this show for not pitching it to a basic cable network. If ABC was really happy with this show, they wouldn't have made it a summer series where ratings are already low. Yeah it sucks, but that's life.

Actually The Gates was one of the shows produced with a significantly smaller budget than normal network shows. FOX has done several of them in the last couple of years starting with Mental and Defying Gravity last year, and The Gates, Persons Unknown and The Good Guys this year.

The Gates was intended to run during the summer, not pushed there. All of those shows ran during the summer, though only The Good Guys made it to the fall.

I'm not saying the show should have been renewed or anything, but it wasn't a leftover summer burn-off.
