http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef-just-desserts/bios
Summary of Series:
Bravo sweetens the deal as Top Chef: Just Desserts -- a spin-off of the popular Emmy-nominated and James Beard Award-winning “Top Chef” -- adds celebrated pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini as Head Judge with critically acclaimed chef Hubert Keller and DailyCandy Editor-at-Large Dannielle Kyrillos rounding out the Judges’ Table. Top Chef judge Gail Simmons will serve as the host of Bravo’s newest delectable delight that airs on Bravo later this year.
Each episode of Top Chef: Just Desserts holds two challenges for the pastry chefs: the first is a Quickfire test of their basic abilities and the second is a more involved Elimination Challenge designed to test the versatility and inventiveness of the pastry chefs as they take on unique culinary trials such as working with unusual and exotic ingredients or catering for a range of demanding clients.

Well Im in for this and hope it washes the bad taste of Top Chef : DC out of my mouth... Do have to say the contestants look extra douchey but what the hell, I like the premise and Simmons.

I skipped DC, so I'm looking forward to this one. Something more classy than the endless Food Network dessert shows.

This could be a nice change of pace after a sub-par season of Top Chef. Hopefully, they'll come up with some creative challenges.

I'm looking forward to Gail hosting this show. Aside from her being easy on the eyes, I've always found her to be really articulate in her criticisms and thought she would make a great TV host.

I'll be watching. I like Gail and I'm hoping this dessert is better than the main course that was Top Chef: DC.

I liked the episode. This is a little Hell's Kitchen with the screaming and drama and a little Top Chef. Seems like some of the folks are really really talented. And unlike Top Chef, I'll actually want to eat EVERYTHING they show. The squid and cockles and stuff is gross on Top Chef, but this show will be NOM.
The girl who went home... I was like - That's all she made? One little blob that's only got a tiny bit of chocolate? I also can't believe the glitter-chocolate explosion was in the top 3.

Lots of big egos on this show, but hopefully it will focus on the food instead of the drama. Also, what was that lump on that dude's neck and the girl with the band-aid on her head?

Didn't agree with the choice of who went home. To me the most aggravating thing about Top Chef is the way they continually let people slide who make crappy food but have no idea why it's bad or even that it's bad.

Don't know how long Im in for this... Love Simmons, but the people on the show have no personality and I was worried it was going to be about the person who can make the "weirdest" dessert and yep I was right.

I liked the first episode. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but some of those desserts had my mouth watering. Looks to be a talented group.

I think one series of this show will be enough. Only so much you can do with desserts
Seriously missing Tom as head judge, other guy is a doofus
Gail is an adequate replacement for Padma

Finally watched this today. I liked it. Gail is a solid host and always looks great on camera. Not too familiar with Chef Johnny, but he seems like a good head judge. Even though I did like it and will continue to watch, I'm suffering through major cooking show burnout right now. This is the 5th cooking show I've watched this year (Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, Next Food Network Star, Hell's Kitchen, Master Chef and now this) and to top it off, Hell's Kitchen starts again this week, which makes it now 6.
^^ Original Desmond: Tom Colicchio is not a pastry/dessert chef. His expertise would not have worked on this show. He is credited as a Consulting Producer, so he must have some involvement on the behind the scenes aspect of this show.
Seems like this group is quite talented. There isn't really anyone that stands out as a favorite, but I was impressed with Seth. Although the previews make it look like he makes a turn for the worst later this season. Don't like Zac at all. He is a little too over the top. Morgan seemed kind of douchey, especially in his facial expressions at the judges table.
Absolutely 100% agree with them getting rid of Tanya. She acknowledged on camera that something wasn't right when she was making the dessert, yet she didn't bother to fix it. Plus, she already looked defeated once she was called into the judges table.

It will be funny on this show if they ask them to do an entree for a challenge, and see if they whine about it like the Top Chefs do about making pastry.

i finally got around to watching this. it was ok. it just seemed like 2 quick fires back to back. except the second one they had to make 50 instead of 1. personally i think the extreme cake challenges on food network and tlc are much better.

Last night was pure insanity. I can't believe that Sean guy is a heterosexual male. He seems so flamboyant and unstable... I can't see a straight guy wailing tears and waxing poetic ON CAMERA and wanting to live with himself afterwards.
The candy challenge was cool. Surprised some people didn't have more fun with it and be more creative.
The alcohol challenge was a little lack-luster. And Sean throwing ANOTHER hissy fit. Why didn't Gail do something? She should have been right there watching.
I was sad with who went home. He seemed like a nice, stable, normal guy.

Seth is insane. He's going to stab someone. I was really hoping they were going to send him home.
Yigit is fucking adorable. I hope he stays around for a while.

Why not? Straight guys have made fools of themselves on The Bachelorette and numerous cheesy MTV/VH1 shows. I think it depends on the individual and not their sexuality.
