He means they photoshopped her. I think she just cleans up well. She can be pretty at times.
Damn, January Jones is all kinds of sexy on that cover. Tough to peel my eyes off Christina but Jones is just dripping sexiness in that photo. |

Damn you Jon Hamm.
What I would give to be in that car with those 3 lovely ladies. And yes, Elisabeth Moss looks great. |

Being a cab driver in the 60s must have been incredibly uncomfortable.

I thought it was a really solid episode. I liked that the episode was Don-centric and really focused on his state of mind after last week's gut-wrenching revelation. Also glad to see that he seems to be cutting back on his drinking. Oh, and is dating that hot blond consultant. He really seems to be changing his ways turning her down in the cab.

Pretty solid episode. They pulled off the noir thing pretty well, almost wish it was filmed in black and white.

I figured after last week's emotional fireworks we'd get a quieter episode, and this ep was nicely done. Jon Hamm continues to do great work this season.
Joan's lashing out at Peggy seemed out of character. She used to be able to exert her power effortlessly - now she seems to be struggling. I wonder how she'll react to the inevitable fragging of her shithead of a husband in Vietnam (or maybe even boot camp). Don: "That was my ex-wife and her new husband. And some slob who's about to have the worst dinner of his life." |
Re: Mad Men -- "The Summer Man" -- 09/12/10
I wonder how much the Stones song set them back - it's gotta be pricey for a basic cable TV show.

Back at SC, Joan probably could have gotten her way by hinting and whispering sweet nothings in Roger's ear. At SCDP, she can't even convince Lane to get rid of the vending machine. I think it bothers Joan that Peggy was given the opportunity to demonstrate that her former underling now has a power that she does not. I think the elevator speech was a mix of Joan's real anger and the clear-eyed analysis of office politics that Joan has always had. |

The writers do a good job of not really letting us in on what Don is feeling, but I'd never get bored of a girl that would blow me in a cab. That's girlfriend on the side material right there.

As far as the hens were concerned, Joan ruled the roost at SC, but never had any power over the roosters, and it appears that things are the same at SCDP.

Re: Mad Men -- "The Summer Man" -- 09/12/10
Really good episode and I especially enjoyed the fact that it was mostly from the perspective of Don. And it was great to see Don tone down on the drinking.
1st of all, I was shocked at how much of an arrogant dick Joey was and my draw dropped at that nasty comment he made to Joan about her walking around trying to get raped. Women back in the 60's weren't respected in the work place, so I was kind of glad to see Peggy stand up to the douche, however I understood Joan's perspective when they had that confrontation in the elevator. It was a lose lose situation for Peggy either way. One of the things that I absolutely loved was seeing Betty pissed off at Don having a good time with Bethany. I know she hates Don for cheating on her all those years, but in a way I think she still has some feelings for him and a little bit of jealousy when she sees him happy with other women. I really surprised to see Don being such a gentlemen with Faye and not take her to his bed room on the 1st date. I hope she sticks around awhile and they continue to develop the relationship. You could see that Jon Hamm and Cara Buono have great sexual chemistry. I had to laugh at Henry when he purposely crushed Don's shit with his car. |

That girl seems like Betty probably was 10 years ago. Which is another reason why I think Betty was so jealous of her. She told Henry "we have everything", but really I think Betty wishes she was single, unattached without children and being courted by men. |
