That synopsis in the SPOILER tags could apply to about half the episodes this season

^ My thoughts exactly. They might as well have said:
"everyone in Bon Temps does something that in some way affects their futures."

In a nutshell, great finale. Now to try and go talk to Kristen!
EDIT: Site won't work.
Glad to see Hoyt and Jason grow some balls and actually stand up for themselves and something. Nice that Alcide came back as well, and I definitely think they dispatched Russell the way they did to leave the door open for his return.

It started off slow, but an overall good finale. It was obvious what they were doing w/ the Jesus character.
Damn, I was hoping that Alan Ball was going to announce an earlier premiere date for season 4!

"You watch your fucking language!"
Uncle Daddy Calvin
Evan Rachel Wood (looking dressed to kill) and Denis O'Hare were my favorite highlights, but the past two episodes and the season in general felt like a big long setup for NEXT year -- Arlene's pregnancy storyline ended with a war vet in a teary, happy mess.
And no Sookie/Debbie Pelt showdown Vol. 2??
Same here.

Can anyone explain the significance of the doll on the floor in Hoyts new house?
Another great line from tonight "When you guys are done eye fucking each other..."
Eric was on fire tonight.

Seems like they did what they did last year. Sort of resolve stuff quickly and then the rest of the episode sets up for next season. Overall, good. I liked that they didn't kill Russell.

I assume Summer left the doll. Or possibly Hoyt's mother? Someone who wanted to rub their noses in how they can't conceive, anyway.
So, sealing Russell up in concrete was pretty much a rip off of Connor sending Angel to the bottom of the sea. And looks like Jason is gonna recreate much of the compound from 'Big Love' on his end. And the ghost-type people (in this case; Godric (looking somehow much older than he did last season)) showing up whenever a character needs someone to talk to or get talked at has somehow seeped in from 'Six Feet Under'. Other than that, most of this was pretty good, even if all it really did was set up next season.

I really like what they did with Lafayette that was probably the most interesting.
Pros:
Lafayette seeing dead people and having Harry Potter as a boyfriend
Sam shooting... something
Russell not dying
Eric
Cons:
Bill acting like an annoying parent while simultaneously coming off like a bigger pussy than a Stephanie Meyer vampire
Jason loses the girl and gets to baby sit a bunch of smelly hillbillies... ugh.
Tara... please tell me you were driving off the show in that last shot.
Sookie... you're so goddamn annoying. Can we get a new lead?
Werewolf guy's only part in the finale is to have a drink with Sookie... lame.
Overall, it was decent.

The idea is the same - immobilize and confine a vampire to a dark place, allowing them to 'live' but also starve and go insane.
In Angel's case it was a metal crate welded shut and dropped to the bottom of the Pacific ocean where he spent three months hallucinating, starving and suffering frost bite burns.

Never saw it, read it, and never wanted to. (Tom Cruise fan I am not, Anne Rice vampires in puffy shirts I am no fan of either).
I don't know when the Spider-Man comic mentioned came out either. Doesn't matter either way. Same basic idea, different properties.

the whole thing reminded me of Interview with a Vampire too... great movie. With the vampire fad I'm surprised it hasn't been remade and butchered yet.
Wouldn't Russell eventually die in the cement from hunger? And why wasn't he healing from the burns when he was brought back inside? Was it because of the silver?
Good finale. A lot of set up for next season which is ok. It wasn't the best storyline during the season but I like the way they ended Sam's storyline. The Lafayette story was a dud. I like the character and I hope he has something better to do next season. Same goes for Jason and Andy.
Tara sucked all season and it seemed like they were giving her a goodbye this episode with her going through her town and realizing there was nothing there for her anymore. Then showing her riding off. Hopefully this is it for her and they don't bring her back... terrible character.

I found myself looking at the clock several times during this finale. I thought it was kind of ho-hum, but a lot of the storylines this season did not really resonate with me. Like the whole Jason/Crystal thing.
Why did Tara drive to Merlotte's, smile, then drive away? I could not understand why she was smiling and left.

Re: True Blood -- Season Finale -- "Evil is going on" -- 09/12/10
I don't think Bill was being portrayed as a pussy so much as a completely deranged psycho-stalker. He'll kill anyone who ever finds out about her? I was pretty pleased that the writers were brave enough to have everyone's (almost; Tara still doesn't know about Sookie) secrets revealed so season four could start out with everyone's agenda's out in the open. Bill isn't some sweet Angel/Edward dream boyfriend; he's more like Tony Soprano with superpowers - someone you DON'T want to show an interest in you. After this episode, I'm very optimistic that the writers can now make Bill and Sookie into interesting characters. (Certainly watching Sookie send Russell's hopes and dreams down the disposal was an entertaining start) Horrible for them, but fun for us.
And I would love it if they just continued Tara's story in another city entirely. Keep her character with no connection to the others at all; that would rule. But if she ends up repeating Jason's storyline from season two in any way whatsoever, I'm calling shenanigans and getting my broom.
