Episode title reminds me of a cheesy James Bond liner.

It was tough seeing Don's secretary all crushed up inside.

Nice, low-key episode. Loved how Roger took the humiliation of playing Santa and turned it around into something fun. Dude is awesome. Glad they seem to be focusing more on the office instead of Don's home life. Plus we got Joan in a tight red dress.

Peggy had my favorite line of the night: "You're never going to get me to do anything Swedish people do." Dunno what it means, but it made me

I have zero interest in Sally Draper's personal life, especially if it involves creepy stalker boys. I hope they resolve that little storyline quickly.

I wonder if/when Don will pull out of this. That was real sloppy behavior for the Don Draper we've known. He's had plenty of opportunities, but he's never mixed gotten mixed up with his secretaries before.

We've seen the Don-Allison relationship for more than a year now, and it's been clear that he really appreciated how competent she was at her job. He's kind of screwed that up now, and I wonder if that wasn't her quitting at the end. I guess that's why they brought her over though. It wouldn't have worked if she wasn't a recognizable character.

Still, as his secretary she should have known better than anyone how screwed up he really was so I don't have much sympathy for her.

"We need to change our rating from 'Convalescent Home' to 'Roman Orgy'"
"How did you enjoy Der Fuehrer's Birthday?"

That final scene between Don and his secretary was really amazing.

The actress who plays Sally is by far the best child actor I've ever seen on a TV show. That said, I agree wrapping her up in a "Psycho Glenn" storyline is a total waste.

It was stated plainly in the very first episode that (many?) secretaries saw the job as a stepping stone to marrying an executive. And Jane landing Roger just reinforces that idea for the series.

Back when Alison was Don's secretary SC, and he was married to Grace Kelly, she probably didn't let such thoughts in her head; but, Don brought her over to SCDP, he's divorced now...

Plus, him letting her read the Santa letter, and then do the Xmas shopping for his kids, is inching towards a more intimate relationship.

Perhaps Alison was already indulging in some matrimonial fantasies about Don. (That doctor-lady pegged Don as the type to be married again in a year.) After their couch adventure, maybe Alison was allowing herself to see Don as attainable.

Wow, that's really insightful. I'd forgotten the doctor's comments. I think you're spot-on there.

Once again, we see Don only able to get sex if he pays for it - this time in the form of the $100 "bonus" to his secretary the next day. That had to make her feel like a whore.

After he was rebuffed by the neighbor and the blond lady, I actually expected the secretary to leave him hanging also so I was surprised they ended up doing it on the couch. When she got up to leave so quickly, I thought perhaps this was a casual thing for her. But the next day she definitely seemed hurt, like she wanted more of a relationship from him.

I think its more that hes just looking for sex and has no interest in anything more serious. The commment by Rogers's wife that its Don's fault he will be alone in Acapulco is no doubt in reference to him not following up with that girl after they hit it off on their date. She didnt give it up and hes not looking to date anyone, so hes done with her.

Not dismissing Alison's feelings, but in Don's defense, he had the card with the bonus money prepared before they had sex.

According to Weiner, when Don was married any woman he screwed knew the score. Now that he is single, the women expect him to date them.

Great episode. Interesting to see Glenn back, again in a very creepy manner. Love that Joan noticed Maalox on Roger's face even after he had put the bottle away.

Interesting moments with Don, where the Nurse says "Good Night" and Don repeats it back drunkenly. Later on, the female client says "Merry Christmas" and Don repeats it back as if confused. Both times his advances are rejected.

Anyone have a gif of Joan leading that conga line?

As for the Swedish thing, I had no idea what it meant either. My only thought was "I bet it's cold and blond."

Isn't Peggy Norwegian and when she met the new roommate told her "I wont tell my parents you're Swedish"

I think the whole Norwegian/Swedish thing is about how in the 60's the definition of WHITE PEOPLE was different and even peoples that closely tied could consider themselves part of an OTHER

No. There's a rivalry between the two countries, sort of like England/ France or US/ Canada. My wife's family is Swedish and I was initially confused about why they had a Norwegian joke book on the coffee table.
