New BSG online series, possible backdoor pilot

Found here

http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune....galactica.html

An online series called "Blood & Chrome" is in the works, one that would follow the experiences of a young William "Husker" Adama in the first Cylon War. ....

of nine or 10 episodes of nine or 10 minutes each, and it would make use of cutting-edge digital technology and special effects to depict the Cylon War.

If they can get back the guy that played Husker in the Razor flashbacks, this would be an instant win for me.

Should have been done instead of Caprica IMO.

Definitely room for both and I'm not saying that I dislike Caprica but as a spin off coming out of BSG I think this would have attracted more fans.

Not really. If they did that, they'd have to drop either one of their paranormal bullshit shows or wrasslin'. Can't have too much sci-fi on syfy.

Nico Cortez isn't busy at the moment.

LOL. That does seem to be their business model. I'm just waiting for ESPN to adopt it and start broadcasting cooking shows and gardening lessons.

Upgraded to full backdoor pilot (ie, 2 hour TV movie, with possible series to follow).

I'm interested, but I wonder if people will be interested in another Battlestar prequel. Look at how Caprica is doing right now...It's barely hanging on to dear life. But, I have to assume this may appeal to more BSG fans as it would involve more of the war element and actual space dog fights etc.

That's because Caprica is a mess. I like parts of it, but there's so much irrelevant nonsense. This should be much better, as long as the Soldiers of the One are nowhere to be found.

Well I'm sure there won't be much of the Soldiers of the One, but they obviously have something to do with the Cylon belief system.

And that's the whole problem, because the Cylon belief system comes from the Final Five, who aren't scheduled to arrive until the end of the Cylon war, IIRC.

If Zoe is supposed to end up as the "soul" of the Cylon robots, that won't really work, as she's not a monotheist. Maybe Clarice becomes the Cylon soul template, but I kinda figured she'd end up as the Hybrid instead.

And since the war is still 20 years off, none of this will be properly addressed in this show. I think they should have left Caprica as a one shot movie.

Caprica would be easier to watch if a better actress played Zoe and the whole Amanda and Clarice/cult stuff were done away with.

If Blood and Chrome has some space battles, then bring it on.

In other words, if it were a completely different show .

I loved BSG and pretty much everything Ron Moore has ever done but Caprica is unwatchable.

Yep, unwatchable and why they canceled it. I mean not one storyline worth watching or a single character you really care about.

While I don't know what the final episodes of Caprica have in them, it sounds like it doesn't have an ending. It would be nice if in this new miniseries, they could have a few lines of dialog that gives a closure to Caprica.

If they're modeling it on the old primetime soaps like Dallas/Dynasty, chances are Caprica will end on some kind of huge cliffhanger.

Looks like I was right about "Can't have too much sci-fi on syfy"

For 'Blood & Chrome,' BSG Might Be DOA On Syfy

The one consolation Battlestar Galactica fans had following the cancellation of the prequel "Caprica" was that an originally proposed Web series was going to come to television instead.

But now there's a possibility it's heading right back to the Web.

AOL TV is reporting that "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome" may not end up on the boob tube anytime soon. Or even at all. Syfy president of original programming Mark Stern hinted during San Diego Comic-Con last month that no decision had been made on the ultimate fate of "Blood & Chrome," and there's a good chance it could be shown through the same medium you're reading this story.

Filming on the pilot is complete, but a good portion of the special effects are not, Stern told the site last month. Because of that, there is no immediate plans to give the show an air date, and if it does come to television, it almost definitely won't be in 2011.
Guess they have to make more room for Sharktopus v. Mega-Dildo VII: Tiffany's Revenge.

SyFy isn't interested in Sci-Fi anymore.

Instead of changing their name to "SyFy" they should have just called it "Shark Sandwich."
