Yes, I do. I absolutely love Sela Ward. I think she's one of the hottest older actresses out there. A very good replacement for Melina Kanakeredes.
I am wondering how the hell are they going to write out Stella so abruptly since season 6 ended on a cliffhanger.

According to this, she's not. Sela Ward's character will be introduced in the season premiere.

Since season 6 ended on a cliffhanger, my assumption is they will resolve it without Stella and then jump ahead a few weeks/months.

Not according to EW.
They say her last episode has "already aired", obviously meaning the season finale.

What the hell is going on at CBS anyway?
Eddie Cibrian, A.J. Cook, Liz Vassey, all dropped from their shows in addition to all the cancellations CBS made.

It sounds to me like they are penny pinching big time. The entire cast of the original CSI and NCIS had to re-negotiate new contracts this offseason and I read CBS was trying to low ball them with pay cuts.

I guess it's all relative. I would take Mark Harmon's "low-balled" salary over mine any day.

It's more about what their agents determine as a reasonable salary for their work. So a pay cut is probably more unacceptable to the agent than the actor.

I'll say this though--actors on tv series have a far tougher schedule than actors in movies. They seem to work a lot of long strenous days.

^^ Agree. 6-10 months per year and 12-15 hour days. Depending on when the show airs, most start production in June or July and the actors work/crew work with intermittent breaks until the following April. That's a pretty grueling schedule even though I know most of them are paid really well. I know alot of "film" actors are reluctant to commit to this kind of scheduling. Melina's contract was up and she already worked on this show for 6 years, I can understand why she would not want to commit to more years of this kind of scheduling.

Also, how is it CSI: Miami is still on the air? Save a bucket load dumping that one despite its intentional comedy (it used to be unintentional before they started mocking themselves).
