Memphis Beat -- "Baby, Let's Play House" -- 06/29/10

Memphis Beat

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Dwight steers ahead to find a missing truck driver. But Dwight is grinding gears in his personal life: He doesn't trust his mother's boyfriend, and his ex-wife continually sends him mixed signals. Juliette Lewis guest stars.

Mostly negative to Meh feedback from here last week. I wasn't sold on this either, but I like TNT's effort to produce quality scripted shows and I'm willing to give this show a shot to find it's footing.

Episode 2 of 10.

Thought this was better than last week. Still not great, but I'll stick around for another week or 2.

I agree. I just finished watching this tonight and it was slightly better than the Pilot, mainly because of a good guest star in Juliette Lewis. However, it was really boring for being a Cop show. Plus, I didn't even find the humor (if there was any) to be funny. Once I got to the 40+ minute mark, I said to myself, "What has just happened?" The B plot with Dwight's Mom and her new boyfriend gets a "Who cares?" from me. I find some parts of Lee's character charming, but he's still not a really likeable lead.

I really want to like this show, but it's not giving me alot of good reasons to.

Who was the blonde that Dwight was sleeping with early in the episode and who called him later on?

Right? I watched the episodes out of order (this 1st then the pilot). This episode was clearly better though markedly different from the pilot. Lee's character seems less of a stubborn mule detective and Woodard's character seems different and has toned down the accent. It may take a while for this show to find itself. Still TNT will likely give it more leeway than the major networks would. I'll watch a few more.

Thought the episode was better than the pilot, but its still not that great. I havent watched the latest episode yet though.

But man, what happened to Juliette Lewis? Seeing her in Cape Fear and From Dusk Till Dawn, I definitely thought she was going to grow up to be a bigger actress...and much hotter. Age hasn't been too kind to her. lol
