Hawaii 5-0 trailer (CBS) -- Alex O'Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park

Here is the 1st trailer for the new Hawaii 5-0 coming in the Fall. The one that I posted in the CBS upfront thread was more of a behind the scenes featurette.

http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.co...i-five-o-.html

Looking forward to this. This is actually from the creators of Fringe.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but it bears repeating: Grace Park in a bikini?

I didn't have the sound on but it certainly looks different than the original. I hope it is slightly realistic instead of being gun shootouts every week.

Then again, if it's lame, I could always just wait for reruns in the summer and enjoy it for the HD-scenery like I do with CSI Miami.

Looks pretty awesome, though it's funny how I can immediately tell they shot the open in the "LOST" valley.

But it's got a great look, a good cast and seems cool to me.

I noticed that Jean Smart is the Governor of Hawaii in that clip. Hopefully she will be at least a recurring character.

I just don't care for the fact that McGarrett seems to be a new sheriff/fish out of water type character now. And how will they (if at all) introduce his nemesis, Wo Fat?

How did you get the impression that McGarrett was a fish out of water from that clip? Seems to me he's a badass Army Lt. Commander, Father is murdered, returns home to Hawaii and is recruited by the Governor to lead this new task force.

BTW, James Marsters (Buffy) is in the Pilot as McGarrett's nemesis. He is in that clip. There is a possibility he will recur on the show.

Kono sure has changed! Alex O'Loughlin will have to rock an ascot if he wants to earn his stripes as McGarrett.

Re: Hawaii 5-0 trailer (CBS) -- Alex O'Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park

Damn, that looks pretty great! In another thread earlier today, I had mentioned that CBS offers me no intersting shows to watch, but I'll swallow my words and say that I'll be checking this one out. The cast looks solid, especially Scott Caan.

I hope this works out for Alex O'Loughlin, I liked him a lot on The Shield. CBS has been keeping him steadily employed the past few years, between two shows (Moonlight and Three Rivers) and a feature film (The Back-Up Plan).

Saw this in a another thread as well. This looks like a fun show. Alex O'Loughlin is great, I loved "Moonlight", so I really hope this works out.

Based on that trailer, it looks nothing like that Hawaii 5-0 I'm familiar with. So why bother making it a remake at all? Couldn't they just give the characters different names and be done with it? Or is name recognition/nostalgia really that important?

Well, you know this is 2010, not 1968. Hawaii 5-0 ran for 12 seasons and was a huge success for CBS a long time ago. I see no problem bringing it back. They do have to modernize it for the 21st Century with the technology, weapons and make it relevant for people who didn't grow up in the 60's and 70's when it was originally on. Plus, Jack Lord was almost 50 during the 1st season of the original. Alex O'Loughlin is only 33...of course they have to cast relatively young actors like Alex and Scott Caan.

So Daniel Dae Kim has probably got to be the first actor to be in series shot in Hawaii one right after the other. Lucky bastard.

Wow, it's 2010?!? Thanks for that!!!

I'm not advocating a direct remake, in fact I can't stand remakes in general. What I'm saying is that this version looks so different that it could have easily been an original show if they just got rid of the names.

Another cop show? No thanks. It's too soon for me anyway. I still see Jin and Boomer when I look at Daniel Dae-Kim and Grace Park.

I apologize if I came across as condescending to your remarks. It wasn't my intent. You are right if they didn't use the brand name (Hawaii 5-0) or McGarrett & Danno character names, it could easily be a different Cop show taking place in Hawaii. There was actually another cop show a few years ago called "Hawaii" on NBC with Michael Biehn that was canned.
