Tina Fey to receive Mark Twain Prize for American Humor
She is awesome but is this kind of early for a lifetime achievement award?
"30 Rock" and "Saturday Night Live" actress Tina Fey is to receive the annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor -- one of nation's highest honors in the world of comedy, the Kennedy Center said on Tuesday. Fey, whose popularity soared in 2008 with her impersonations of Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, will be presented the award on November 13 on a night of humor featuring other comic stars. Fey is only the third woman to have won the honor in 13 years, after Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg. The actress, 40, has already won six Emmys and two Golden Globes for her TV series "30 Rock", which she writes, produces and also stars in. So according to this prize, the three definitive names in female comedy are Lily Tomlin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Tina Fey.
I fully agree with one of those. |

I like Fey alright, I suppose...I've seen her on SNL a few times. I've never seen any of her films, though, as none of them have looked interesting to me (I did see a bit of Baby Mama on cable, but I won't bother to threadcrap here over it :lol: ). I do, however, think that she's sexy as all hell....so if that's in the voting criteria, then hell yeah, give her an award. But I doubt that sexiness is part of the voting, judging by the past winners. :lol:
And Baby Mama was Tina cashing a check, that's all. |

Tina Fey is decent, but I would have to believe that Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner would have been better selections, in terms of female comedians.

The Mark Twain Prize recognizes people whose work in comedy involves social commentary/observation or political satire, so adjust your recommendations of who deserves it instead of Tina Fey accordingly.

Fey is so overrated. I think she is funny, but she is one of these people in Hollywood that the press just loves EVERYTHING they do for some reason. She's still hot though :)
