How does Christian know when anybody died?

The island was not a major event to Christian, he was dead, so how does he get to be in the place the Losties setup as a place for them?

That they came up with so many interesting stories that the resolutions to those stories didn't live up to the build up?

I'm just trying to understand how some of you can wish death upon the same people who made all the specific things you care about so profoundly.
Because from day one..all the little mysteries we were told were all important..and in the end..they weren't important..the character's emotional journey was what was important. I don't wish death on them, but it the finale was sort of a let down in terms of answering the mysteries. But in terms of a emotional end for the characters..I liked it.

Christian was only really there because that is who Jack needed for his closure. He needed his father there to be able to tie it all together and understand. He came to peace with his ultimate destiny and death when his father broke it down to him.

And how do we really know what we'll need or what we will go through when we die? I'm hoping that I will get to carry on with the ones that I love in a similar manner depcited in this show.

No I think we ALL assumed the little mysteries were important. Many were placed to keep us off balance and it worked. I for one loved it.

I liked how them sitting in the church resembled them sitting on the plane.

I don't understand why Desmond was the one in the afterlife to bring them all together though? Was he conscious of the afterlife when he was on the island? When we thought he as in another timeline, that seemed more "realistic."

I liked the "bad robot" interpretation, whether it was real or not.

So was this church the same location where Jack first met Eloise?

Desmond for whatever reason was always the Constant. If it were not for Desmond the story might have never come full circle for many of them. It was because of Desmond we got Penny and then rescue and finally a return to the island to fulfill their destinies.

As soon as Jack asked if he was dead, I kind of shut down and was not happy. Now, that I have had time to process it, I think it was a good ending.

If that article truly was from one of the writers, it's one of the most self-aggrandizing things I've ever read. I hope he gets a doctor to help him with his broken arm - must be sore from all that back patting.

So faith explains EVERY mystery? Isn't that the same as saying a wizard did it?

When the camera passed the shoe on the tree in the final scene, it was weathered and worn out. In the pilot it was fancy and new (and I checked the DVR to make sure). That was just another piece of evidence time passed on the island since the crash. And then Jack died.

Generally enjoyed the finale.

Re: Lost -- 2 1/2 Hour Series Finale -- "The End Part 1 & 2" -- 05/23/10

If you just accept that the island was a place of mystery in the world and that the people worked together for a common goal to fulfill their lives then you will enjoy the series much more. If you want all the answers to all of the mysteries then you'll be sorely disappointed. I would rather just let go of some of the mystery and use the show to help me reflect on my own life, mortality and what is important to me. I sure hope that when my life comes to an end I have a chance to reflect and move on with the people I care about rather than it just being The End.

Well, how about this? You go through a learning experience, adventure, bond with people, fall in love, become a better person, even live a good life- THEN YOU APPARENTLY FORGET ALL OF THAT WHEN YOU DIE. You then create a false reality where in most all cases, especially if you "transcended" or "sacrificed" before your death, your life is worse than it was when you were living??? And, the only end to your purgatory is a slim chance that you brush up against someone you loved, who also is stuck in purgatory Hell for no good reason, and that sparks your true life memory. Or, you can hope that you knew a magical man who died but was also immune to electromagnetism so he remembers things clearer in the afterlife and he comes along and spurns you a little quicker to meet your true love.

How sweet?

What a great mythology.

Re: Lost -- 2 1/2 Hour Series Finale -- "The End Part 1 & 2" -- 05/23/10

Took me three sittings to watch it (work interferes with everything!), but I ended up liking it, although I needed time to process what was what. Ultimately, I'm with those here who feel the flash-sideways was the purgatory stuff and that everything else on the island did happen. I stopped reading comments after 20 pages, but wanted to add my thought (assuming it hasn't already been discussed to death in pages 21-49) about the ending credits. It was more of the "moving on" idea, whereas after everyone had lived and died on the island, the wreckage remained.

And welcome to Page 50

That is probably the biggest irritation that I have. That and these damn Lost thread over analyzing EVERYTHING making me buy into all these things that seemed important.

Still did not like the final though. Basically rendered everything meaningless.
