Smallville to end after 10th season

The Hollywood Reporter and Ausiello are reporting that next season will be the last for Smallville.

This is actually great news. Now they will have plenty of time to wrap things up. Hopefully they can get Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex for at least the finale. And maybe Clark can start flying???

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

As I just said in the Season Finale thread, this is great news. Now the writers can finally arc the show to it's conclusion.

Crazy to think the show made it 10 years. Damn, I remember watching the pilot in my dorm room, my senior year of college. Here's hoping we get 3 things before it ends, Darksied, Tights, and Flights.

I've had a similar, albeit different experience as you. I grew up watching the show in the sense that I was a freshman in high school when the show premiered (just like the main characters) and I've gone through high school, undergrad and will be getting my masters in film around the time the show concludes next season. It's crazy how much time flies (pun intended).

The show started when I was a sophomore in high school and when it ends I will have graduated from law school. Wow...it's been a good run.

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

We would like to announce our CW 2011 Fall Lineup. We think we have some exciting shows that should break with conventional television and show off something new and dynamic!

First off..."Metropolis".....

Dang we've come so far:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dA3VtTS66ZA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dA3VtTS66ZA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Welling really has matured into the role. Next season should be even better.

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

As much as I enjoy watching this show, I feel it's time for an endgame.
And lets see some flying. Enough already.
Hope they Bring Martha back from guest appearances and if they bring Lex back, I don't think he should be the main villain. They have done Lex to death.

Odds that he flies off in the suit in the finale?

I think at best we'll get ripping the shirt open to reveal the symbol.

I loved the show but I haven't watched since season 6. I can't believe Clark hasn't flown yet. How have the seasons been since 6?

I can live with that. I don't get the obsession with having him fly.

Actually, it'd be funnier if Clark ripped open his shirt, and exposed his somewhat hairy chest, and him looking down, and giving us a "Doh!" look and then hauling butt to get his suit.

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

Having watched from the beginning, I'm glad to see the series ending, mostly due to its inability to embrace the true source material. Needing to keep "Superman" out of it - giving only the occasional tease - was fine in the first few seasons, and I get that there are legal reasons. But the frustration from all this "Blur" stuff has gone on too long. Give me Superman or get out.

Maybe it he will tear open his shirt & run past the camera. The camera turns around & we see Superman (probably CGI. Can only see cape, top of head and feet) flying away from the camera past the Daily Planet. End Credits.

I don't want a Voyager ending.

Allison Mack will not return as a series regular in the final season. She will guest star in several episodes to bring closure to Chloe's storyline.

Hopefully this means that Erica Durance will finally commit to a full 22 episode season as she will probably get alot more screentime in the final season.

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

I guess I never had much of a problem with the no Superman and no flying routine. I do think he should have been flying even if he's not Superman, just because it's insane to think that he hasn't learned that yet. At least he hasn't really complained about it and/or copped out with an excuse of "I don't have time." Hopefully that changes next season though.

I wonder why Mack didn't want back full time. She's been there since the beginning - you'd think she'd want to go out strong. That said, I don't think Chloe was in every episode this past season, so what constitutes a 'regular'?

Re: Smallville to end after 10th season

Mack not back? Damn, having come this far you would think she'd just ride it to the end given that this is the final season. I wouldn't mind seeing Lex back in a small role or 3-4 episode arc. It's funny, I miss Rosenbaum, but not Lex. Martha should absolutely return for another episode or few. It'd be cool if they

It's more than just wanting him to fly. I've been fine with the no fly rule for years. It wasn't a problem until Supergirl, Bizarro, Zod and 4 dozen Kandorians were flying around Earth while Clark stands around dumbfounded. Now it's just silly that he isn't flying.

I need more than that. I want to see the cape.

So I guess Chloe will just be around when there are guest heroes, coordinating with watch tower. I hope Oliver stays

In my mind, I've always thought Smallville should end with a shot like in Superman The Movie when we see Superman for the first time. In the fortress of solitude, he takes off toward the camera, then turns and flies out of frame.
