That's all you get right now... it's just after midnight here in London and no one started the thread yet.

So here it is!

That was a good Digital Short.

Digital Short was funny. Starfish was dumb, imagine that another wacky Wiig character. The Bedelia girl reminds me of Cheri Oteri.

I thought the digital short was pretty good as well.

I was going to give this show another chance after last week's episode but this show was terrible. Alec Baldwin was great but the writing was horrible. I really, really, really dislike Kristen Wiig. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers kicked ass though.

The first show I've liked in years. I love the singing couple they had on Weekend Update. It reminded me of the Sandler/Farley years when you could tell the actors were enjoying themselves.

I missed the first 30 minutes, so I'm assuming that was when the digital short aired that everyone is talking about.

I am waiting for it on Hulu.

The best sketches aired after weekend update like the microwave time machine and Turner Classic Movies sketch.

Planet of the Apes lol

I was hoping this would be the final show for Kristen Wiig but guess not. The music couple was torture and the starfish sketch.

Great digital short, but always wary when they put it right after the monologue since that usually means the sketches are going to suck. Then starfish comes on and confirms it.

But Preniva was good, and so was the sex positions video, which I thought was the best one of those they've done. Funny to see Baldwin losing it there, but it was pretty damn good. Swim Coach had its moments. Update was better than usual, and I liked the Timecrowave sketch.

Agreed.

Timecrowave was great. The TCM thing was pretty cool because they actually built it around an end climax for a change instead of front-loading the sketch with laughs and letting it peter out at the end as they usually do.

Other than the Digital Short, the stuff before WU just didn't work for me. I actually loved Wiig when she first came on, but they've just overused her to death since then and her schtick had been worn down to a thread for me. This Starfish character just felt like she lifted traits from 3 or 4 of her other recurring characters and mashed them together.

Yeah, I totally agree; aside from the "Take the shaaaa" sketch, it was really strong.

Hopefully this cast can come back and pick up where they left off with these past two episodes.

Re: SNL 05/15/10 - H: Alec Baldwin & MG: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Count me in the corner that thought this was in the bottom half of episodes this year.....which is a nice way to say it sucked ass. So much momentum from last week and it's like we ended up watching the "B side" from that show. I'm sure it had to do with schedules and such but they should have had the Betty White episode this week.

Watching the close intently and aside from Kristen Wiig really being an attention whore even in closing (anyone else notice how she elbowed her way to the front right before it went to the Broadway Video logo?), the only two that seemed to be acting like it might be the end for them were Abby Elliott and Keenan. If he goes, the only think left to hope for willbe the occasional Armison Patterson bit on WU.

They need to get some stronger writing next season. Apart from Betty White, was there anything memorable about this season? There aren't any standout characters or performers. Other than What Up With That and the consistently great Digital Shorts, the season is just a blur.

So was I, especially for the season finale.

I thought overall it was horrible. The sketches just don't have a conclusion, they just end. Starfish just went on and on then just ended with no wrap up.

Didn't watch the whole episode yet. The Digital Short was pretty good, and I thought the Swim Coach bit was hilarious.

Starfish was awful, it seems like Wiig's characters are a LOT more misses than hits. The Bedelia skit was okay, but a little creepy the way she doted on her father.

I hope Forte and Armison don't go. Keep Abby Elliot since we have not seen her do a lot. She might be the "Steve Young "of SNL where once she gets off the bench and gets her chance she might be great.

Forte was in less sketches this year

Re: SNL 05/15/10 - H: Alec Baldwin & MG: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Back to the "bleh" skits after a great week with Betty White last week. Alec Baldwin is great as always, especially when he started to lose it during the Grady Wilson sketch. But overall, he couldn't save the writing on most skits. Although the Digital Short scared the crap out of my half-sleeping wife. Heheh.

As far as Kristin Wiig, she has to do a dramatic role to get out of the stigma of the wacky role. It's getting old. I love Penelope but, with the new characters, it's seems like they're forcing it now.

"Now give me a handjob."

Re: SNL 05/15/10 - H: Alec Baldwin & MG: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Aside from the White/All-stars episode, the only things I'll remember from this season are What's Up With That!, Armison as Patterson on WU, and the Scared Straight sketches. Oh and let's not forget Slate's meltdown in her first sketch. It seemed as the season progressed that they finally figured out that Wiig was in way too much crap. I still don't understand why they jam the Target skit down our throats while leaving the best character she's been in, Two A-holes, on the bench.

Am I the only one how would prefer a What's Up With That! movie over MacGruber?

Agreed about Elliot. Every bit part she's been in she's been solid. Moynihan needs to go. He's never going to be good enough to be elevated and they need to start developing another male. I still don't care for either Slate and Nasim but they probably deserve another shot. Armison won't go anywhere until Obama is gone. Like Darrell Hammond in the 90s, he's SNL's presidential impersonator now. That's good for a few openings and 5-10 skits per year just based on that. I'd guess that we may see some turnover like last year but nothing earth shattering. If Forte does move on, I hope they replace him with a female to give us a break from Wiig in nine skits a show.

Sadly out of this entire season my favorite new recurring bit is Stephon on WU -- germfs!
