Is there an advertisment free model for TV shows ?
Like movies, say where people pay $1-2 per episode to get them streamed online/pay perview ?

There's Netflix streaming, although there selection might not be as extensive as you want.

iTunes. Amazon sells some TV shows, too.

No, I mean is it feasible to produce shows with most of the revenue coming from people directly paying for shows, rather than the advertisers.

Is it really that bad watching something on ABC.com, Hulu, or any other website and have to put up with a few ads? I guess I'd rather put up with a few minutes of ads then shell out 2 or 3 bucks.

HBO and Showtime shows are advertisement free and paid for by subscribers, but not in the a la carte method you're talking about.

No, not at all, but Hulu etc are not main sources of revenues for the shows. Apparently they just exist as promotioning the shows. Almost all revenuw come from advertisers.

This is more or less how PBS works, albeit they are also heavily dependent on tax dollars.

If you're looking to create your own revenue stream this way, I suppose you could create a partnership with Hulu, Zune, or the like.

They show promos between shows, saying things like "The Pacific, 9 p.m. Sundays," but they don't have paid advertisements during programs.

There's some high-quality original stuff being produced for the internet. I don't know how it's being funded, but since most people think immediately of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog I doubt it's very feasible... yet.
