Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "Spaghetti Catalyst" -- 05/03/10
So everyone knows, this episode will air at 9:00 PM tonight. The 9:30 episode is a rerun.
(I'm guessing CBS is testing the show out in case contract negotiations with Sheen result in Two and a Half Men ending this year.)

I'm very happy I checked my DVR before it aired.
Who's the genius that said "let's show a new episode at a time when we don't normally show this show at all, and put a rerun in the normal time slot?"
Unfortunately, it wound up being a blah episode anyway. Sheldon is starting to veer a little too close to the "Michael Scott" level of cartoonishness. I hope it isn't the Steve Holland influence...

Sheldon and Penny were great. (Howard and Raj were good in their bits too. I can't wait for an episode that features them more again.)
Sheldon does veer a little too far off course every so often, but he carries the show and I can forgive the occasional transgression.
Leonard just totally pisses me off. I think its mainly his whiny voice. He has his moments but they are overshadowed by how annoying I find him. (That said, still love the show.)

Reason I stopped watching the show. He is so repetitive and the jokes are just the same thing over & over. Every other line is him taking some sarcastic line by someone else literally. I'll watch an ep every now & then, but Sheldon makes me cringe & then I can't take it anymore. If they would just stop with the repeating the same jokes he would be OK, I loved the first Will Wheaton ep, best I've ever seen in the series.

They're gone a little too far with Sheldon some times, and I think this season they've focused the show around him too much over the rest of the characters.
The Lenoard/Penny playing parent thing was a bit too much and predictable. I've seen that gag a bit too much to have found that one funny.

Note to the writers: Sheldon is autistic, not retarded.

A little of Sheldon is just enough, but I didn't find him as obnoxious as most episodes in this one, because he was playing the role of a kid instead of a pretentious killjoy.

I hope they don't turn Sheldon into:
Funny, sometimes, as a supporting character, but the show fell completely apart when he became the main focus.
My wife loves the show, I can now take it or leave it. I think Sessa17 nailed it for how I feel about the show now.
When he (Sheldon) is not the focus I enjoy it quite a bit. But c'mon...the constant "knock...(insert name)" gag is getting old.
I think they need to get out more as a group, since that is when it is most funny for me (interacting with "normal" people).

Actually, I think the cool part about the knocking gag is that Penny started counting 3 seconds given Sheldon's warning from a previous episode.
