Susan Boyle is THE Susan Boyle because she was this frumpy middle aged woman that looked like she belonged with cats instead of starring in Cats. When she sang she became the icon for underdogs everywhere. People were able to connect with her on that level because she was just an average woman who had an opportunity to live her dream.

I have no dispute on that this guy sings well, but he's hardly the surprise find that Susan Boyle was. Sorry, but not every average Joe (or Jane) that comes onto one of these Talent shows is the next Boyle. This guy didn't have a fraction of the effect that Boyle had the first time she sang.
