The Vampire Diaries -- "Blood Brothers" -- 04/29/10

Vampire Diaries

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Elena learns the truth about how Stefan and Damon became vampires; Pearl's confrontation with Johnathan Gilbert turns ugly; Jeremy and Anna continue to grow closer.

Just got caught up with last week's episode last night. Solid episode.

Looking forward to this one.

Seeing David Anders play a character without a British accent still throws me for a loop...

Re: The Vampire Diaries -- "Blood Brothers" -- 04/29/10

This was the first episode that I've enjoyed since it came back from it's break. We got a big piece of Damon and Stefan's back story and the episode actually made me look forward to next week with how it ended.

I still think Jeremy and Anna are much more interesting, and have better chemistry, than Stefan and Elena.

I think Elena is the most boring character of the entire show. She's relegated to saying "Stephan!" or "Damon!" while looking constipated about 400 times an episode.

I was getting scared that they were going to take Anna away but luckily they found a way to keep her around, unfortunately it meant her mother had to die.

I wonder if we'll get a refocused cast next season? Bonnie, the blond, and her boyfriend are a waste.

Pearl is more interesting than all of the other regulars that drop in every few episodes. I'm pissed off that she had to die.

just realized that the kid who plays Jeremy is the grandson of Steve McQueen. His name is Steve McQueen.

It seems her main function is to look pretty, which she does very well.

Really disappointed in how she met her end. Supposedly she was the oldest and strongest vampire in town and shes done in by what was in essence a sucker punch.

That to me is the problem with most vampire shows. They make them so strong that it becomes a bit implausible when they finally bite it to a human.

Plus I am not a huge fan of the "older they get, the stronger they are" mythology. I can understand getting better with practice at using your powers, but the whole increasing strength and speed I get annoyed by.

The only Movie/series that I can remember not following that mythos was Blade. The Oldest vampire was shown as weak and frail.

There is a reason for it as well. The concept is that the older vampires sire weaker progeny. When a sire expires, their power is transferred down their lines almost like an inheritance. (True for True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse novels, Angle/Buffy-verse, Moonlight and Ann Rice's "Vampire Chronicles".)

Bonnie could be interesting with her witch powers, but so far hasn't done a whole lot. I'd get rid of Caroline and her boyfriend. They aren't needed.

She's just such a terrible actress that it distracts from every scene she's in. Almost Shenae Grimes bad.

Cant speak for the others but in Anne Rice's books older vampires make stronger disciples.

I enjoy all the side characters. I like to spread around the stories. I like the Matt/Blond interaction as well.
