Great ep by the way. The SFX were great. |
Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
Previews from last week spoiled a little of what happened in this episode. I'm not going to watch those anymore. Still a fantastic episode.

Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
No need to spoiler speculation. And yes, I think it's pretty obvious that it was anti-Walter on that bridge (the "Secretary") and that he's leading the fight against our universe in order to get his son back.
Peter will have an interesting choice to make between his two dads. But I suspect that anti-Walter is a very cold, bitter man whereas our Walter's 17-year stay at the happy-farm has mellowed him out considerably. |

re: Astrid
last week i heard Walter call her "Astro", did he call her "Aspirin" this week or did i hear that in my mind? |
Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
yet another great episode. i, too, speculate that it was Walter-nate who came through.

Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
Unless it was a hallucination last season, Walternate is already here. Plus there is the issue of the man that visited contagious cancer man a few episodes ago. But I agree Walternate has somehow got to be a bastard, just because that is what it will take to push Peter back towards Walter.
Was there any explicit explanation on just how Mr. Secretary made it over when it seemed the experiment was stopped, or are we just to assume it wasn't quite stopped like we thought? |
Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
^^
I don't recall Walternate coming over? Bell has been going back and forth but I don't think Walternate ever did. And no, it was never explicitly explained but I guess you should infer that he made it through. Although his health issues -- he looked pretty beat up on that bed -- may have something to do with the early termination. |

Agree, great episode. And about Walternate.

Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
Excellent episode! I also agree about "walternate" as well!

This show has grown by leaps and bounds this season. It started as a pretty good show to becoming the best Sci-Fi on TV today. Including the episode before the break, the last 5 shows have all been outstanding.
I really hope we get an extended arc in the other side. Perhaps Peter crosses over somehow and we get a better look at how it works while Walter and Olivia are trying to bring him back. To me, that would be a great way to start season 3. |
Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
Walternate has to be the Secretary. It's the only thing that makes sense. Peter was knocked out, so we never really got to see if he stopped the experiment or not. However, if he hadn't, wouldn't Olivia had seen the man on the bridge cross over?
Was the Observer in line at the bank? |

To me, that would be a great way to start season 3. Glad to have something replace the imminent demise of Lost. Actually, I think this show is a lot better than Lost. And I agree about exploring the alternate universe. I am a long-time fan of science fiction (in book form) in all its different flavours. But one flavour I have never really cottoned to is "alternate history" scifi. You know, the one where you read stories like what if Hitler had actually won the war and how would this affect the modern world. I just found it too contrived and could never quiet that nagging voice in the back of my head that kept insisting "BUT THAT IS HISTORICALLY WRONG!" However, by creating an alternate universe that largely resembles our own, the writers have carte blanche to rewrite history to their heart's content; and do so without triggering that objecting voice. Should be fun! |

Nope -- it was spoilered! :) Will delete my post. |
Re: Fringe -- "The Man From The Other Side" -- 04/22/10
Agree with everyone saying this was not only a great episode but that the show has been top notch this year.
This and Supernatural are always a good double feature on a Friday night. |

I'm not liking the "You're not my father! Waaaaah! I hate you!!" Storyline.
Other than that, love this show. |
