I really wish Matt and Trey would comment on this and tell us whether the bleeps were their doing or if Comedy Central added them at the last minute.
I just can't see what everyone could have said at the end that would have required the bleeping. It had to have been intentional. And they had the characters dropping Mohammad's name so much that the bleeping seems to have been a joke in and of itself. I guess they could have just been doing it casually and Comedy Central bleeped it out themselves, but I find that hard to believe.

According to this CNN article, which quotes a BoingBoing.net interview, they were probably hoping to get away with no censoring.
One assumes after the threats Comedy Central backed down so Matt and Trey decided to go overboard with the censoring and make a further joke out of it.

IMHO, this whole thing was planned by Parker, Stone and Comedy Central as a publicity stunt.
The reason is because I was able to see the episode last night at 10 on the Western feed of CC. If they had truly pulled all future broadcasts, we wouldn't have seen it on the West Coast at all.

This sucks. I forgot to watch it last night and was just going to catch it today. I wonder if we will ever see a truly non-censored version.
fucking pussies. I agree with Matt & Trey. If everyone would have just published those Danish cartoons years ago, nobody would even be discussing this now. But once the Muslims saw they had some power over the media, this is what we get.

This is what really kills me. The blowhard Bill O'Reilly bowing to terrorists. What happened to all his tough talk about "the terrorists win" crap. He should be praising Matt & Trey instead of being scared to even discuss it.

are you talking about the episodes themselves or the censoring on last night's episode? that seems extremely ridiculous, imho. it's not like they are making fun of some organization or religion who will do nothing. islamic radicalists have already shown they will kill people for stuff like this. why the hell would they risk their lives. i can see why CC decided to censor it, if they did. i absolutely don't agree with it and think it's the wrong message to be sending, but i'm not the one who could be killed by a member of that religion.

Canadian residents - South Park airs Sunday Nights On The Comedy Network - without bleeps. At least it has been. We'll have to wait until Sunday to see how they handle this Episode.

Matt & Trey have released a short statment on Southparkstudios.com
A Statement from Matt and Trey
In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.

Again, I love that Jesus hooked on internet porn and Buddha doing coke are perfectly fine. Comedy Central has no problem with that because no one is threatening them with violence.
I would LOVE for next week's episode to address this matter, but I'll wager either Trey & Matt take the high road or CC wouldn't air it anyway.

It's too bad the bleeps weren't a joke. Way to wuss out Comedy Central and prove to these crazies that violence and intimidation works.
It's just a shame that Comedy Central wouldn't air it as Matt and Trey intended. I mean, Matt and Trey knew the risks associated with poking fun at Islam (if you can even call what they did making fun of Islam) and showing an image of Mohammad, but they were still willing to go ahead with it. Let's be honest, if someone was going to get hurt because of all of this, it sure wasn't going to be a nameless Comedy Central executive, it was going to be Matt and/or Trey.
The hypocrisy on Comedy Central's behalf is just unbelievable. It is okay for Jesus to defecate on the American Flag and our former President or for him to watch internet porn, Buddha can snort lines of coke, etc. But god forbid Mohammad even be shown doing nothing.
And through all of this...they showed Mohammad in a past episode with no repercussions whatsoever. But after the whole Danish cartoon thing, Comedy Central has to place a censor bar of Mohammad...but even that isn't enough...now we have to censor not only his name, but any criticism levied at those who would use violence to stand in the way of free speech. Great message there Comedy Central...violence does work!

I have a hard time believing CC bleeped the entire "moral lesson" part on their own. It's one thing to censor a word or two, but if they had objections to something that substantial I don't think they would have aired it at all.

Statement or not, I still don't believe it. The bleeps were too frequent and too pointed to be anything but intentional. ESPECIALLY the 3 ridiculously long ones at the end.
I think it's all a big game to all the parties involved.
