Not true:
Jack didn't love her.

Well, remember that 24 has never had a problem with killing off important and popular characters. Just go back to the first season. They killed off Jack's wife completely out of the blue. They killed David Palmer. George Mason. Chapelle. Edgar. Curtis. Tony. Michelle. Wayne Palmer. That other president that died when Air Force One crashed. And I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting. Like it or not, you have to give this show credit for having balls. The ONLY characters that have been immune so far have been Jack and Chloe and Aaron Pierce but he hasn't even been in the show this year.

I absolutely cannot believe they killed Renee though. I mean just looking back at all the characters I listed that have died, and I'm sure I missed some, it was certainly possible that she would end up dead, but I never imagined in a million years that they'd actually kill her off. I don't think I've ever been that shocked watching a tv show before. Seems really strange to me actually since she appears to be basically the most popular character after Jack and she easily could have starred with Kiefer in a couple movies. Guess not.

Anyway, let's hope that Jack unleashes Chuck Norris times 100 badassness for the last couple episodes. Poor guy.

The most glaring one I think you missed is Bill. Also, Tony isn't dead.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't have killed her off (even though I'm really disappointed she's gone), but that a cancellation doesn't mean it doesn't matter what happens to the characters.

As far as we know he is still in a coma. I'd count him and Audrey in the "loss" column of Jack's relationships.

Ok. Keeler, along with Wayne and Audrey, which has already been stated, are all "gone". Meaning that they were basically written off the show. Tony was orginally killed and later brought back to life, but at one point all 24 fans thought he was dead and gone.

My point is that 24 has never had a problem getting rid of very prominent characters before so Renee probably shouldn't have been too big of a surprise, but still I was very shocked that she was killed.

My jaw dropped about 2 feet when the doctor walked out of the room and told Jack she was dead. I was thinking coma...not dead.

Yeah, definitely missed Bill. I'm sure there are others too.

yup, I cried. Don't mind admitting it..haha
Haven't teared up that much since Season 2 when,

Spoiler:
Jack was flying the plane with the nuke and was saying goodbye to Kim.

Watching Renee for two seasons and to meet Wersching personally only made it that much more sad.

Logan is awesome. I hope he does something evil!

and I'm glad Chloe gets to command. This should be fun.

This is why I love 24

I agree with everyone that I hate the fact that Renee is dead, but it was a well-played surprise since we all thought there's NO WAY they'd do it after she was shot in the belly.

And if you think about it, that sniper is a trained professional; with that scope and rifle, there's no way he wouldn't get a good shot in. Then again, he didn't go for a head shot, and missed Jack repeatedly when he was running while carrying another person!

O yea, I also follow Annie Wersching's (Renee) Twitter and about a month ago, before the cancellation, she posted a "Sign Renee for Season 9" link. I was like, great, now I know Renee won't die.

Thanks for tricking my ass.

Maybe she faked her death so Jack can focus on the mission.

This and the entire trip en route to the hospital felt cartoonish...it almost ruined the final moments of the episode for me.

Reason why Jack Bauer > Chuck Norris: after Jack has sex with women, he asks if they are OK.

Renee didn't die from a gunshot wound.

Okay, now can someone finally kill Chloe. Maybe an assassin that pouts and rolls his eyes after each kill.

Perfect ending to the series....Dana escapes and in the process kills Chloe....then Jack puts one right between Dana's eyes. Killing Renee and letting Chloe's annoying character live would be utter bullsh!t.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- "8:00am to 9:00am" -- 04/12/10

I would hate to be David Fury and Howard Gordon right now. I'm sure they are going to get a ton of hate mail and hate messages on message boards from alot of fans, especially female. I visited Annie's official facebook page and there are a ton of female fans pissed off saying they are done with the show.

As for me, I loved the episode. It was a really tragic end for Renee and I felt so bad for Jack. Story-wise I think they needed a reason to keep Jack involved with the A plot and Renee's death is a very strong motivating factor. I think they are once again setting up Jack to be a emotionless lone wolf for the feature films. Jack Bauer really is the harbinger of death.

BTW, I loved that Jack and Renee finally got it on. I think Jack hasn't had sex on the show since the season 4 prequel (with Audrey), which is on the season 3 DVD set. And that wasn't even officially seen by most viewers.

It was cool seeing Logan back. Greg Itzin has an amazing presence on screen. You can already tell his motives aren't noble.

I can't wait until Jack finally locates the that sniper. That's going to be one hell of a showdown.

I loved the Glee promo at the beginning of House with Brittany and Santana commenting on how hot Jack Bauer is. That was pretty solid.

Renee really gets around... She was bedded by Leoben not more than 12 hours ago, and then Jack got sloppy seconds.

At least the writers had her take a shower somewhere in that time.

"I'm never watched 24 ever again! This is a long term commitment to boycott your show!"

There are only 6 episodes left. I think they'll be ok.

With the demise of Renee, I wonder if that leaves the door open to bring Audrey back in the final hours. I was never a big Audrey fan, but man, Jack needs someone.

Made all the more sinister by Sean Callery's haunting yet subtle score during that scene.
