I love New Orleans and I love David Simon. My girlfriend just moved to NOLA for law school (Loyola) and she love's The Wire as well, so I know we'll both be checking this out. Wish it could be together, but soon enough, soon enough!

Re: Trailer for HBO's new show Treme from creator of The Wire
Nice! Was curious as to what Simon had cooking up next since I think the Wire is probably the best thing to ever hit a television, and Generation Kill was pretty great too.
If they can get McNulty to pop up in a cameo with Bunk or Lester and say "What the fuck did I do?" I will officially name it the second best show to grace TV, sorry Six Feet Under.

Dunno what effect this will have, but unfortunate just the same:
NEW ORLEANS – An HBO spokesman says David Mills, a veteran television writer who worked on "ER" and "The Wire," has died in New Orleans.
HBO spokesman Diego Aldana says Mills died Tuesday night but didn't know the cause of death.
Mills also wrote for "The Corner" and "Homicide: Life on the Street" among other shows.
He is co-writer and co-executive producer of the new HBO series "Treme."
The drama is set to premiere April 11. The series is set in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and is being filmed in the city.

Looks interesting to me. I'll have to see if I can rub a few nickels together and afford HBO for awhile.

Hmm. AND it looks like I'll be keeping HBO again for one damn show. Well played, HBO. I tip my hat to you.

I saw this last week before The Pacific and as I said to my friend:
"You just saw the trailer for the best show on TV period again."
This has greatness written all over it and I for one cannot wait for April 11th.

Eh, nothing really stuck out for me other than them playing in the strip club. I don't find jazz very interesting or the thought of watching John Goodman talk about New Orleans, so I hope there's a lot more to the show than that. Otherwise this is another John From Cincinnati for me.

my guide has it running from 10-11:30, so there should be no need to do any padding at all

This doesn't seem all that interesting but I'm in for Bunk, Lester and David Simon.

Cannot wait to see this. I've loved everything David Simon has been involved in.

Really enjoyed it. A slow burn like most Simon shows but it's already very enjoyable. Full of life, joy, sadness, and fun. I'm gonna love this.
