'24' seasons 1-7 on netflix live streaming--please rate them
 

Ive seen the first two seasons and thats about it. Which seasons are worth seeing, or which should I skip? Do they have to be seen in order?

Season 1: A
Season 2: B+
Season 3: C+ (the 2nd half of the season made up for it)
Season 4: B
Season 5: A-
Season 6: D (The 1st 4 episodes are worth watching)
Season 7: B (Good comeback season highlighted by a certain red head)

BTW, I just checked Netflix and noticed that alot of FOX shows including 24 are now available for instant streaming. Very cool!

I would watch them in order, kind of dumb to skip around, there are characters/stories that continue through the seasons. I think season 2 is my favorite.

Yes, 24 is the type of show you want to watch in order. But to rank them...

Honestly, just watch them all. It's true that some seasons are not as great as others (Season 6, especially), but the character of Jack Bauer more or less stays consistent. If you enjoy him, you'll want to see them all.

seasons 1,2,5 are the best of the bunch

i don't know why people dislike s4 so much but i would rank it higher than s3

out of the remainder s7 wins (by a longshot) (gonna rewatch this one on netflix)

season 6 is currently the worst (you may want to skip it all together) It had a total of 5 good episodes; eps 1-4 and episode 17 and the addt'l 19 eps were filler :lol:

season 8 sucks badly , and i said that it was on par w/ s6, but TPTB promises that it will get better ...my tally hasn't counted 5 good eps yet, so s6 is beating it so far :doh:

Slight variation on Djaria's list:

Season 1: A+ (fresh original and only marred by an amnesia plot)
Season 2: A- (I don't think you could have asked for more for a sophomore season)
Season 3: C+ (1st half is really weak, but the 2nd half of the season made up for it)
Season 4: D (was believed to be a total abomination, of course that was before season 6)
Season 5: A (Presidential plot starts off rocky, but becomes awesome about halfway through)
Season 6: F (Ponder this: Evil "twin" brother and President Wayne Palmer... nuff said)
Season 7: B+ (Great return to form after season 6)
Season 8: D- (terrible season but at least it doesn't involve Jack's dysfunctional family and has a plausible POTUS unlike 6)

If you don't want to watch them all: Seasons 1-3 need to be watched for continuity. Season 3 wraps up pretty much everything that went on the first three seasons. The rest of the seasons are pretty self-contained, so it would be very possible to skip 4, 6 & 8 and not really miss anything.

Sure season 6 had four watchable episodes(which 8 hasn't had yet) but the lowest low of 6:

You can see most these lists agree for the most part. But if you like 24, watch it in order, realizing that as you go there may be a bum season along the way. Overall though, especially if you watch them on demand, all of them go very fast.

I think the hardest thing about 24 is that by season 3, you begin to see the "formulas" the writers use. What was once an edge-of-your-seat surprise suddenly becomes expected, taking away a lot of the "whoa element."*

Watch them all, in order.

But... You can stop watching Season 6 after the first five episodes. Nothing else to see there. Proceed directly to Season 7.

I know season 6 sucks except the 1st 4 episodes and maybe 2 or 3 later in the season.

However, after re-thinking it over, you do kind of need to watch it especially since alot of plot elements from season 4 and 5 are carried over (and resolved) and the fact that season 5 ends on a cliffhanger that carries into 6.

They did bring back some actors in season 6 from previous seasons to resolve their plots/characters, but it did feel very forced as the writers just wrote them in because they happened to be available.

Season 1 was the only one I thought was great. It proved very hard to follow. The formula just doesn't hold up when you move on to other seasons.

I think the first two seasons are the only ones worth watching. Season 3 was alright, and I watched all of Seasons 4 and 5, so those are at least watchable. They totally lost me at the beginning of Season 6 though (I think I may have made it to the 5th or 6th episode). But by Season 4, they already start repeating themselves, and it just gets tiresome after a while.

1 - Pretty damn good. Has a silly amnesia subplot and Dennis Hopper doing a "Boris & Natasha" accent, though.

2 - Stuff not relating to the Kim Bauer character: Average; Stuff/plots/situations featuring the Kim Bauer character: Abysmal.

3 - Severely underrated.

4 - Divisive among the fans. I'm on the side that likes it.

5 - Fucking Epic. The show at its best.

6 - First four episodes: Amazing. Remaining Twenty: A stinky shitstain.

Redemption - Pretty good because it forced the writers to try something different.

7 - Aaaaaand we're back to the same old formula. This is a BIG step-up from season six, but its now clear that the writers don't have any new ideas.

I agree 100%. Having seen all of the seasons in order, I always liked the first three the best simply because it was new and exciting to me at the time. I LOVED the show then, but from Season 4 and onward the whole concept started to wear on me. It's still entertaining, but doesn't have that "whoa element" as stated before.

But yeah, Seasons 5 and 7 are pretty good though too.

3 is the best by far. 1 and 2 have to be watched, and are very good. 4-7 are a blur of average to terrible, getting worse as it goes on. I honestly can't remember most of season 5 even after reading a plot outline.
