United States of Tara -- Season 2 Thread -- Premiered 03/22/10

Tara

Synopsis for "Trouble Junction"

Spoiler:
Tara appears to be headed for trouble when she determines that her dormant alters are itching to make a comeback, but she decides to keep this to herself. Meanwhile, bride-to-be Charmaine asks to move in with the Gregsons; Max takes on a new project to redo the house next door and flip it; Kate befriends a mysterious older woman; and Marshall makes a new friend---a young lady.

Season 2 Premiered last week. Again what is the general opinion of this show if your paying for Showtime and watching this? It looks kind of offbeat and dark to me. This was also renewed for a 3rd season.

I enjoyed the first season a lot and season 2 started out great.

The blase attitude in this show (and other Diablo Cody's work) is disconcerting. Throw some pretty people and some hip dialogue, and everythings normal.
Spoiler:

Fiance sleeps around one month before the wedding ? OK.
Teenage son cruises around for sex in park with strangers ? OK
Drugs ? OK
Daughter doing semi porn on webcam for stuff ? Just another thing to show
Having a mentally sick sister at the wedding ? Normal
Mentally sick wife sleeping with 10s of different people ? Husband fine with it.
5 year old daughter abused at home and then gets mentally sick later in life ?
Parents think the abuse is not worth mentioning.

Other than that its an ok show...I watched the series these past two weeks because there was nothing on tv.

But shows like Chuck are incomparably better.

I love this show. The writing is fairly funny but the cast is dynamite - there isn't a single main character I don't like. I thought the season was great; we found out a lot of backstory, set more stuff in motion for season 3 and had a lot of decent laughs along the way.

Strong season all around. Collette continues to be amazing and everyone around her is great as well.

I'm finding the show enjoyable enough.

It was obvious early in the season that Tara's parents knew something about what may be causing her illness, but it took till the second last episode for a real attempt to be made to find out and the last episode to get some actual information. I find it unrealistic that there was no sense of urgency to bark up that tree and for the parents to keep these secrets. The whole family seems to be falling apart because of the illness, but they all seem to be pretty lax in trying to get some answers.
