The parents decide the kids are mature enough to read a book that was formally banned in an all-new episode of "South Park" titled "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs," premiering on Wednesday, March 24 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.

The boys are given a controversial book to read in school that both excites and inspires them to write one of their own. When the boys discover that Stan's mom has found their masterpiece, their new motivation is how they can stay out of trouble.

this had to be the weakest episode of south park ever... and i have even enjoyed the episodes w/ towelie and sexual harassment panda! the only thing i enjoyed about this episode was sarah jessica parker being called a transvestite donkey queen.

I actually thought this ep was pretty good. The SJP stuff and the Morgan Freeman bit were enough to make it push it over many of last season's episodes.

Another weak episode. The only chuckles for me were when Butters learned he couldn't kill John Lennon or Ronald Reagan and SJP wearing the antlers.

She was good-looking... keyword: was. Just look at her early in her career and SJP was quite attractive (for example, in the movie Ed Wood). But she has gone way downhill since then, and seems to be accelerating down that hill.

Far and away the worst episode since Not Without My Anus. Only the Catcher in the Rye stuff at the beginning, and the Sarah Jessica Parker jokes were amusing, and even those were kinda weak.

The episode just had no point. I couldn't figure out what Trey & Matt were trying to parody? There's no believeability that a book that induces vomiting would be a bestseller.

The funniest thing for me is my 17 year old was just assigned Catcher in the Rye to read and he was saying the exact same thing, "They tricked me into reading a book."

The only thing that I could think of was Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
From Wikipedia:
"While on his 2003 tour to promote his novel Diary, Palahniuk read to his audiences a short story titled "Guts", a tale of accidents involving masturbation, which appears in his book Haunted. It was reported that to that point, 40 people had fainted while listening to the readings.[14] Playboy magazine would later publish the story in their March 2004 issue; Palahniuk offered to let them publish another story along with it, but the publishers found the second work too disturbing. On his tour to promote Stranger Than Fiction: True Stories in the summer of 2004, he read the story to audiences again, bringing the total number of fainters up to 53, and later up to 60, while on tour to promote the softcover edition of Diary. In the fall of that year, he began promoting "Haunted", and continued to read "Guts". At his October 4, 2004 reading in Boulder, Colorado, Palahniuk noted that, after that day, his number of fainters was up to 68. The last fainting occurred on May 28, 2007, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where 5 people fainted, one of which occurred when a man was trying to leave the auditorium, which resulted in him falling and hitting his head on the door. Otherwise, I liked Butters' "Must kill Papschmeer"-like reaction to the book.

I HATE the fact that Comedy Central starts the epiosde 3 minutes into the half hour - that's just outright wrong.

It was actually a commentary about themselves. Trey and Matt gave an interview somewhere right before the season started, talking about some of the upcoming show ideas, and one was where they were miffed that people keep trying to put some kind of conservative or liberal tag on them, finding political meaning in the series when it's not really there.

That is what I got from it...if you have followed SP for a long time, it is actually pretty obvious. Though, I disagree with them that there is no political meaning in the show...it is there, it's just meaning that doesn't fit the ready-made labels of 'conservative' or 'liberal'.

Yeah, weak episode, but another thing I got out of the show is how extreme kids can be.

South Park's always been about how kids at that age are pretty much the worst people on earth. And they drove this point home by how Catcher in the Rye (a supposedly controversial book) is completely harmless when compared to something these kids can come up with on their own.
