Modern Family -- "Starry Night" -- 03/24/10

Modern Family

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Mitchell's father-son outing with Jay to watch meteor showers has unexpected company; Phil and Claire help out with their kids' school projects; Gloria and Cameron spend some time together while their partners are preoccupied.

Got tired of the other photo.

From brief scenes together in previous episodes, the Gloria and Cameron scenes could be PURE gold!

Awesome episode, really love this show. Cameron and Manny, as usual, stole the show. Cam totally nailed the awkwardness and him being generally freaked out. I lost it when he bust out sweating and ran out screaming, "It feels like I ate the sun!" Manny was on fire with the over-the-top insults at Mitchell.

Cameron in response to Gloria trying to find out who scrapped Cam's car: "It looks drivable..." lol

Loved when Alex was describing symptoms of ADHD and it was showing Claire realize how perfectly it described Phil while Phil was getting distracted by every little small thing.

I'm glad Luke finished the project on his own and "shattered" his parent's expectations. Got a kick out of his abrupt transition from heartfelt speech to alien invasion.

That end scene was fantastic. Phil' "I love you Claire! I'll always love you!" and Luke's "My mouth's asleep like at the dentist."

The best part, again, was the Dunphys. Between Alex describing the symptoms of ADHD (and saying it fits Luke to a T while showing Phil exhibiting all the signs) and then Luke pulling the project off all by himself, which led to Phil's "I'm sorry I didn't have enough lack of faith in Luke" and eventually to Claire's "You were right", Phil's "You don't have to apologize.", Claire's "I wasn't", and Phil's "Apology accepted" (before she could even get "wasn't" completely finished), the Dunphys were fantastic again this week.

(Honestly, the rest of the extended Pritchett clan was sort of meh, I thought.)

yet again, modern family delivers the consistent laughs! just as everyone else has said, the dunphy's stole this... the ending line of luke saying "my mouths asleep like at the dentist" had me dying!

Great episode. The cupcake ending had me in stitches.

Though predictable, the scene with Gloria and Cam in the restaurant was pretty funny.

The "Brown/Columbia" thing was brilliant.

The ADHD stuff was good too.

Those were all good scenes, especially Gloria getting mad at the entire neighborhood.. But the car ride was mesmerizing.

Great episode. I must have a season set to watch it all over again.

I love that they brought back the loose step. "I'll fix that."

Loved it when Luke put the noise-cancelling headphones on. "No one can hear me. Everyone is stupid except me."

Manny rocks - "Turn around cupcake and let us get a look at that caboose" and then "There's a line Jay, and you just crossed it". Awesome.

Hilarious episode, but I've come to expect that from this show. Not since Frasier have I seen a comedy that has been so consistently excellent its debut season.

Re: Modern Family -- "Starry Night" -- 03/24/10

Plenty of laughs as usual.

I like the re-occuring loose step gag. Glad they didn't kill the joke by having Phil trip/fall again, instead they had him carefully avoiding it the second time. I think it's the first time someone other than Phil was the victim of it. Nice job by Julie Bowen of making the fall look good.

Alex stating that she would explain ADHD to Luke but he would just walk away before she got to "H" - at which point Luke walks away.

I loved that the extremely expensive dress she was too afraid to bring in the house is not semi-covered in skunk.
