I ran through all the permutations in my head, and I still can't figure how Tyson could have thought a vote for Parvati would benefit him.

He explains it in his extended final words on the website. He randomly thought Danielle and Parvati were going to vote for Russell, so he figured he'd change his vote, making it 4 against Parvati since he wanted her out first.

Of course, the show edits it to make it look like he voted for her because of Russell.

Yeah, but he's still cool. He said so himself.

That still doesn't help him though. Why potential risk your own neck just to get a certain person ousted? You should always assume worst-case scenario (and hell, I think he said something to that effect either in TC or leading up to TC). Beyond stupid.

It was the Russel seed, plain and simple.

That is a complete failure in logic. Either way, whoever played the HII (whether it be Russell or Parvati), the other was going home. He wouldn't have had to switch his vote to get Parvati out, he just needed Russell to keep the HII.

It's a complete lack of logic. He knew 5 votes for sure based on the Plan: 2 for Russ, 3 for Parv. So even if Parv and Danielle vote Russell (to make it 4 for Russ), Tyson votes Parv and Russ plays the HII (and Russell's vote doesn't matter at that point), Parv still goes home.

Truly one of the epic blunders in Survivor history. I can only imagine what Boston Rob must have thinking.

BTW - how did Danielle get aligned with Parv and Russ? I guess I missed that in a previous episode.

I guess Russell and Parvati are superficial morons and like to talk about Barbie dolls and bad boob jobs. That's what Tyson believes, anyway.

I didn't see the original season Tyson was on, but my wife said he's the guy that was voted out when he gave his immunity to someone else. First that and now this. If they ever have a "Survivor: Geniuses vs Morons", Tyson's coming back.

Your wife is mistaking Tyson for Erik.

Russell is simply the best. He's bold as fuck, and has the brains to back it up.

I don't know if you will get the full effect from the Youtube video above without seeing the rest of the episode leading up to it but it was absolutely hilarious. Unbelievable that someone could be that fucking dumb/gullible.

Russell talking long-term strategy starting at 0:23. He explains how taking a chance by giving the idol to Parvati is the best long-term option for him. He knows he could have kept the idol and voted for Parvati and been safe for sure, but he knew that taking a chance here was better for the long-term. "This is a chance I have to take. This is my only chance to go further in the game". Russell is probably the only one that understands +EV situations.

If you watch that and still think that Russell didn't think that Tyson was voting Parvati, and that the votes would be split, then you are blinded by dislike for Russell.

Re: Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - 3/24/10 (Wednesday Night!)

Good Episode.

You have to love Boston Rob's cocky "welcome to the big leagues" comment followed by his total disbelief at seeing Tyson go home.

And don't forget about the banana etiquette.

Russell is the baddest player to ever play this game. This season wouldn't be the same without him. Great episode tonight.

That you were trying to buy a little good will with Russell so that down the line you could keep him as a possible back pocket option for an alliance.
That’s exactly what it was.
