Counting this one, there are 12 to go. Fox has to start doubling up episodes or it will won't be done until almost July.

I was getting tired of this season but the past 2 weeks brought back what I love about this show.

What was interesting about the last episode was that it was co-written by Chip Johannssen, who has now left the show to work on Dexter as their showrunner. Not saying that he made a big difference, because he has only worked on 24 since late season.

I have to wonder how they intend to bring back Renee Walker into the storyline.
BTW, the show has still not officially been axed by FOX. Howard Gordon has a new Pilot for next season, but says 24 is still in negotiations for next season.

Regarding "24," despite the continuous drumbeat about the veteran real-time terrorist drama coming to an end, Gordon was surprisingly optimistic about the show's chances to return for a ninth season.
"Discussions are still being held; the book hasn't been closed," he said. "If there is '24' past Season 8," he added, "I will be part of that," though probably not as showrunner. He also said that star Kiefer Sutherland, who has no deal for the show beyond the current season, "is inclined to do another season if there is a good story."

According to the Directv guide, next Monday is just a single episode. The following Monday is the National Championship game so I doubt they'd want to burn off an extra episode while most of their core audience is likely to be watching the game. That leaves April 12th as the next possible date for a double.

Halfway in and the best episode of the season, by far.
Glad to see Renee is going to be back in action and coming to rescue Jack.
That scene with Chloe was bad ass. I love how Renee told Chloe do whatever you have to do and we all knew her pulling a gun on the NSA guy was an inevitability. I just hope she's successful and doesn't screw up.
Sucks that the kid went back for the guy only to get shot himself, but I respect his not wanting to leave one of his own behind to just get shot repeatedly. It seems like he will probably die too, but I hope he doesn't; he seems like a good kid.
EDIT: Dana thought she was on the clear because of the EMP so obviously she doesn't want Chloe to succeed. If she screws over Chloe and doesn't get hers in the end I am going to be very disappointed. Still, glad to see Hastings manning up as the season progresses.

As usual, everything without Jack is AWFUL!
This show is a shell of its former self. That bit with Chloe is so beyond ridiculous. And as much as I like Stephen Root....wow, just wow.
It is kind of sad really...like watching a loved one on life support.

I hope Jack and Cole simultaneously put a bullet in Starbuck's head before this season is over. Take her out of this show, and the season would be so much better on so many levels.
I just don't understand what the writers were thinking when they wrote her character and storyline. I can suspend disbelief for 24, but how is it that Jenny was able to get a highly classified government job using the alias Dana Walsh, and what's more, how is it that they haven't discovered she is a terrorist yet? Why do they bring in the rednecks and do that entire storyline and have the parole officer show up, only to have no resolution whatsoever as far as that concerned? As far as I can tell, the parole officer wasn't going to blow her cover as a mole, but was just going to expose the fact she helped Kevin rob the police storage facility.
But after all of that, she is a mole? When did she have any time to help the terrorists? Between running around helping the rednecks commit a robbery and sort of doing her job, I don't see how she could have been helping them at all.
---
On the good side of things, we got to see Jack, Cole, Chloe, and Renee in action. Those four are great. Hastings is great now as well. Everyone else I could care less about.

That's probably the most entertaining she has been or will be all season. I have to admit, her taking out Stephen Root was pretty awesome.
