'The Inbetweeners' on BBC America - I'm lovin' it!!

I apologize if this has been talked about before or has a thread already - my 'advanced search' didn't wind up with anything. But the show which follows four teenage friends, Will, Simon, Neil and Jay, who can best described as totaly misfits and end up doing alot of things completely wrong - is isanely funny. It's a shame that BBC America bleeps out the expletives, which fly fast and furious, some you can guess, others you're not sure what was uttered. ARe the episodes unbleeped on the online editions?

anyone else watching this??

Great show. I like how adult it is, but it mirrors high school so well. The episode when the three friends make fun of the fourth for having a friend out of the circle had me in tears. FRIENDS!

the implied pissing in the beer can and bleeding in the toilet in the 'Night out in London' had me in tears of laughter and wincing in pain.

I rarely laugh out loud during comedies. Even from my favorite shows. At the most I might chuckle or a grin at a clever line. But this show consistently gives me belly laughs. The kind where you have to pause the DVR while your laughing fit subsides.

I've been watching since they starting airing on BBCA a month or two back. Great show. Neil doing the robot no matter what song plays is brilliant. Too bad there's only a few episodes left. Have they done a 3rd series yet?

I've watched this via torrents, and absolutely love it.

As Original Desmond posted, the third series airs in the UK this year, as well as a special. Really looking forward to them!

Since everyone seems to be raving about this, I'm going to have to check it out. I'm always down for a good comedy.

I saw the ads for this, but it didn't look spectacular. However, based on Desmond, BDB and Gile's reviews I'll give it a shot. No offense to anybody else, but I think I have similar tastes to those three.

a bit of trivia, the girl who plays Carly (the girl Simon loves) is Antony Stewart Head's daughter (Giles from Buffy)

Great episode, seeing Will deal with someone moving in on the girl he was trying to hook up with in the nightclub was painfully funny

What makes this show work is it takes scenarios and characteristics from friends we all dealt with in high school and blows them up with enough exaggeration to make it hilarious but still grounded in reality. We all had mates at school who bullshitted their pants off, we all had trouble talking to girls at some point etc etc

The actor who plays Jay is also in another UK 'youth' comedy called 'Off the Hook' (another show work checking out) playing a dramatically different character

Yeah, Off the Hook was not bad. I got a bit frustrated with the friend of the lead always messing things up, but overall found it to be worth watching. I haven't heard whether it's been picked up for a second series, or not.

I'm so glad people have found this. The episodes on BBCA are edited heavily though. There is a shit load of swearing in every episode. There is a movie coming very soon......and series 3!

I'm hoping BBCA will start showing "Misfits" soon as well. It's sort of the UK Heroes, but it's actually good.

A friend actually sent me a link for this last week. How far along is it in the UK?

I'll have to check that out.

Someone should start a UK television thread so we can keep up with all the good shows being produced over there.

Agreed! I probably watch more UK TV than North American.

Re: 'The Inbetweeners' on BBC America - I'm lovin' it!!

Found this show via "the usual places" on the net and love it as well.

After watching both seasons, I got into Misfits (like Heroes, but intelligent and witty), Skins (think Inbetweeners with a dash of Larry Clark's Kids), and now Being Human (a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire all living together).

Honorable mention goes to the amazingly badass Zombie miniseries Dead Set (CBS' Big Brother + Zombies).

UK TV is really hitting it out of the park.

Okay Just watched Lizzie and Sarah. Wow.

Very Very Dark Comedy. Excellent stuff, not something I've ever really seen done

Is it darker than Nighty Night?

I'll have to check it out!

*edit* I just read that it stars and is co-written by Julia Davis (along with Jessica Hynes of Spaced fame). Julia is the star and main writer of Nighty Night. I will definitely be giving this a chance.

Wow. Mark Heap and Kevin Eldon, too.
