8 sucks, but it's no where near as bad as 6.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

This show got more and more ridiculous every year. It stopped being good about 4 years ago.
From what I have read, Keifer gets something like 15 mil a season so the costs are way tooooo high to continue.

$15m a season isn't too bad, especially considering every main member of the cast of friends made $1m per 30 min ep in its last few seasons.

Um maybe so. If they're still filming new episodes, this season could go out with a serious bang.

However as many have hinted, you better drink some caffeine before watching them. The last three are BOOOOOORING!

Great - I have 3 episodes sitting unwatched as well. A good indicator of how boring this season has been.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

I think 24 has run it course. I wouldn't say this season is that bad, it's just tedious because I've seen it all before. The plot twists are have become either predictable or ludicrous. If I had never seen any other season, I would think it's a great show. It's a victim of its own success.

It's time. The show has played out and maybe since they know this, they can give it a good wrap-up, final ending.

I'll only be disappointed by this if we don't get a few movies and some sort of resolution about the shadow group that was behind the events of Season 7.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

The contents of my DVR got wiped out last Friday due to a programming error and I had two episodes of 24 sitting on it at the time. I found myself not really caring enough about this season to even bother seeking the episodes out, which is pretty telling.

But also FRIENDS was still in the top 5 until its very final episode and 24 isn't worth a fraction of friends in syndication because of it being a) a drama and b) serialized.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

I'm ready to see it go. This season hasn't been horrible, but there isn't much life in it and the Starbuck hillbilly plot makes it worse.

When pop culture history is written, I think 24 will be seen as a relic of the 00's/Bush years, much like Dallas and Dynasty are identified with the 80's/Reagan years.

You have a really good point. I would never have thought about it in that way but it makes perfect sense. I'm curious to see how history looks upon the last decade of television 20/30 years from now.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

aye, aye now

Dynasty was my shit (well at least the first few seasons)

and shit Heroes/24 xover makes sense... Rena Sofer & Adam Monroe seemed to show up on the programs at the same time

is it too late for 24 to make a turnaround this season? i remember s6 managed to pull episode 17 out it's ass before it went back into mediocrete .... i counted 5 decent episodes out of 24 that year

can s8 beat 5 out of 24 ???? hmmm we'll see, but it's not looking up

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

I don't get the hate for this season but this is the first season I've watched. I basically gave up on Heroes and moved the DVR recording slot over to 24. Even if it's as bad as you 24 vets are saying, it's still better than 90% of the stuff on network TV now....hell, it'd be the best show on NBC if it went there.

I also don't get the love for the Chloe chick. Everything about that actress is annoying as hell. Granted she has some truly good lines but that face/voice is one only a mother could love.

Who would have ever thought Scrubs (with all the schedule changes) and Smallville would outlast Jack Bauer? Crazy.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

I sort of started forgetting to watch the recorded episodes on my DVR and eventually just deleted them. Kiss of death for a show, IMO, is when you no longer look forward to seeing new episodes. Too bad. All they needed to do was make this season something unpredictable and new, but from the few episodes I saw, it seemed like the same old shit.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

What NBC should do is put Jack Bauer in Heroes to kill of all the lame heroes and give him 24 hrs to do it.

Re: FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

Before Fox kills it, crossover House and 24. House and his team have 24 hours to fix everyone that gets their shit ruined by Bauer. Good luck!

I stopped watching about a month ago. It was same old same old. And are they still dragging out the CTU chick with the mysterious redneck past? That was a huge factor in me leaving.
