I'm on vacation right now in Hong Kong. Will pop in here every now and then to do a thread of the shows that get most traffic here. Otherwise, l will watch these episodes when I return home.

Great episode! And I'm not just saying that because of Ellie in a bikini.

Didn't care for the ending set-up for what's to come though.

Lots of great shit this ep. Ellie in a bikini, Jeffster!, the Iwo Jima and WW2 kissing photo recreation, Morgan finally finding out about Chuck.. and loving it.

Didn't really care for the ending, but I trust they know what they're doing.

This ep. was a lot like "Chuck Vs. The Santa Claus" which, I think, had the same writer who eventually went on to write for V.

Subway!!!

Wonderfully played out episode. Liked all the info getting passed on. As soon as Chuck started talking to Morgan, I knew his ability would return. Great stuff all around.

Not to sure of the upcoming plan, but I am still trusting the showrunners. Glad that Chuck is back.

Certainly one of the greatest episodes of the series.

They have a swimming pool scene with Sarah nearby and they DON'T put Yvonne Strahovski in a bikini?? I'm shocked.

loved the episode, but with all the Buy More employees being interviewed, I was expecting something from Office Space.

Did no one catch that this episode was directed by Zachary Levi? I expected a whole lot less of Chuck in it because of that, but I was mistaken!

Excellent episode and easily one of the best the show's had. I was so glad that TPTB didn't take the usual road and have Morgan feel upset & betrayed that Chuck had kept such a secret from him. His response plastered a great big smile on my face.

I thought there would be a nod as well, especially when the next door neighbor from office space was the guy doing the interviewing.

I just saw the flag they were holding up "Buy-Moria"- guess they just stitched that up in the back room!

Great ep!

Ellie was clearly the highlight of a great episode. Glad Morgan know, it opens up more potential comedy between the 2.

Jeff and Lester continue to bring the funny.

My only worry now is that Ellie and Awesome are seemingly headed for a long hiatus from the show with their Africa adventure.

The look on Morgan's face when he and Chuck came out of the castle and Morgan told Sarah and Superman that he knew chuck was a spy was HILARIOUS! We played it back 5 times, and laughed as hard each time.

Love love love this show.

Yeah such a good episode... Morgan's face was the best, and I loved Jeffster's version of Fortunate Son.

I am glad they put Captain Awesome by the pool as well.
Great that Morgan finally learned the secret.
Jeff and Lester were the weakest part as usual.

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

I really enjoyed this episode. Seems to have things leaning in the right direction. I'm thinking (hoping) Shaw getting ready to blow up Chuck (in Castle) sways Sarah back in toward Chuck a little more, regardless of whether anything else happens between them this season. Pretty classic episode all the way around.

(As soon as Awesome pitched the "Doctors w/o Borders" idea, I said "There's how they'll keep them off TV (save money) for a few episodes, if not the rest of the season." But, if they WANTED to, or were able with the last 6 episodes, they could have Ring or someone else go after Awesome and Chuck and the team have to go to Africa to save him (and Ellie). Would make for a pretty interesting episode, I think.)

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

I love how they are worried that Morgan would blab Chuck's secret, but they don't worry about Awesome because he's awesome. Then the next scene is Awesome flipping out.

riley_dude 03-09-10 11:29 PM

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

Making Captain Awesome come unglued after getting involved with the Spy business is the best thing they could have done to the character. Yes, he was Awesome but he was boring too.

I totally missed that, and I usually try to catch the writer and director. This wasn't his first directing thing, was it?

I busted up over that too. Morgan has been kinda 'meh' for me this season, but he was great in this episode.

Yeah. You can tell because he tried to be a little too auteur-esque with a few shots, some good (the camera just passing by Jeff sticking an entire apple in his mouth like it's just something that happens all the time) and some not so good (like the shot of Casey throwing the grenade in the hotel room.) Other than that I thought he did a great job.

looks like next weeks episode has a lot of Chuck + Sarah alone time..... I expect there will be some sort of discussion about their future.

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

What a great epsidoe. I certainly laughed out loud at a few things this time - Jeff sticking the apple in his mouth, the flag raise and the WWII kiss.

I think this was the first episode of the season that felt like a season 1/2 episode, and in my book that's a good thing. Too much has felt off this season, although for me I think that can all be traced back to Shaw. Oddly I think his, "Damn, I was just dupped." realization and reaction made him more interesting. I finally felt like there's something more there. Regardless, I'd like to see him gone. :)

I suppose the call to Casey at the end means that the Ring, despite their failed attempts, is fully aware that there is more going on at the Buy Moore. How else would they know he's involved?

Awesome cracking even more? This does not bode well. Granted Ellie and Awesome are often underutilized, but if they leave I feel like there would be a large void in the Chuckverse. I hate to say it, but I'd rather see the Buy More crowd go first.

So Morgan finally knows! I need to stop watching interviews and reading reports because I knew somebody was going to find out. However, as soon as he didn't tell Morgan I was sure it would be one of the Buy More crowd. Nice misdirection though. "You're fired." "From the Buy More?!" "No. As my best friend." I hope this turns out to be a good thing and allows more Chuck and Morgan time. I don't think we've had much since the premier.

This is very good news. I think this whole season, with the exception of a few scenes, has been absent of these two interacting. I keep waiting for the 'typical' Chuck/Sarah scene to close out the episode. We haven't gotten any. :(

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

But I think the lack of Chuck/Sarah time was necessary for Chuck to have the epiphany that he had in his talk with Morgan. He had been fighting his feelings for Sarah for so long that he had actually started to believe the whole "we're over" line himself. It took Morgan to bring him back to his senses.

Oh, and yeah, Morgan's "that is so cool!" reaction was perfect. And the look on his face as he watched Chuck take down the Ring agents: priceless.

This episode rocked on pretty much every level and was one of, if not THE best episode of the series so far.

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck versus the Beard" -- 03/08/10

I enjoyed this episode but I'm worried with all these changes they run the risk of Jumping The Shark. The setup I like is the trouble he runs in to trying to sneak around. If too many people know the secret it's no longer a secret.

On a side note; I just watched The Canyon. It's a movie with Yvonne Strahovski. It was rated R so I was really hoping to see some skin. Not only did the movie suck, it was really the calibre of a TV movie, she showed more on a regular episode of Chuck. I'm not really sure why it was rated R, no skin, no swearing, no graphic violence

Yeah, that movie was way extremely shitty. It was like Open Water but in the Grand Canyon. Stahovski might actually get hotter as she gets dirtier.

Given that all of the news this time last year was rather dire, I'm happy to see positive articles. Yes, I know it doesn't mean anything per se, but it's still nice to see good news.

It was City Slickers without the humor. The people in it are pretty good, Il iked Eion Bailey in Band Of Brothers, they just didn't give them anything to do. One lousy underwear shot was all we get from an R rated movie?

I'm hoping it means more opportunity for the actors on Chuck because they are a good bunch and deserve some other roles.

Oddness all around!

Maybe we can get, a) Joss to direct an episode, b) Nathan to be in the ep.
