I'm sort of glad how this is all going about, having Michael put back on the radar has opened up opportunities for scenarios like this.

Initially I hated the split seasons, but I think it's worked out well for Burn Notice. 9 episodes in the summer and 7 in the Winter/Spring are a good balance and at least it doesn't leave a 9-10 month gap between seasons.

I think the difference between a show like this and for instance LOST is that this show is easy enough to keep track of while it's gone. I love LOST, but sometimes it takes some serious effort to get back into the frame of mind for it. This show has 4 characters and one basic plot. It's serialized, but it's not heavily dependent on episode event recall.

caught up with this show thanks to recommendations from you guys on this site. I just have a 2 episodes and the season finale and then I'm up to speed.

Has this been renewed for a 4th season?

So far I'm digging Simon. But I think that's all thanks to Garret Dilahunt.

Meh. I like the "case of the week" better than this stuff. And I don't care for the Simon character. Too over the top.

That fight was short but pretty damn good. I hope they get a rematch.

Re: Burn Notice -- Season 3 Finale -- "Devil You Know" -- 03/04/10

My first thought about this episode was that Simon was no different than all the other villains that come after Michael (and that Gilroy was a lot more interesting than Simon), making for a "meh" episode.

But after some thought I'm wondering how Simon got his hands on $10 million to pay Gilroy, since he just got out of some secret prison. And how did he have the time/resources to set up the bomb and that store full of videos of Michael's supposed bombings?

Simon must be working for Management, which is trying to manipulate Michael into doing something for them. (Anyone else get a Manchurian Candidate vibe from that room Michael was seated in at the end?)

At any rate, the best news is that the next season will be starting in June. Only a three month wait.

Yeah, I love how the seasons are broken up. The show comes and goes quickly, but its never gone for too long. June will be here before we know it.

I think Simon definitely had more of an edge than the other baddies Weston has been dealing with, but I agree that Gilroy was more interesting. Still, Simon is a crazy wild card kind of villain. I just think they need to make him do something to really up the ante. How crazy would it have been if Simon did blow up the hotel? I think that would have showed Simon was playing for keeps. Still, as fast paced as this show gets, they still keep it at a place that will allow Michael to take on cases of the week. If Simon was pushed too hard, it wouldn't make sense for Michael to focus on anything else.

Loved the finale. Can't wait for the next season to start.

So I guess it's like the real thing - Management and the FBI don't talk to each other.

Who outed Michael? I didn't think the local cops chasing him got a good enough look, and there was no reason for Gilroy to burn his own op by doing so. Did Gilroy mention Michael to Simon? Gilroy seemed like the kind of guy who keeps details close to the vest.

Didn't Sam get the FBI involved, essentially calling all of this down on Michael?

Re: Burn Notice -- Season 3 Finale -- "Devil You Know" -- 03/04/10

question: are we supposed to recognize the guy Michael comes face to face with in the very last scene? I didn't remember if we had seen him before or not.

Either way, strong finale. I'm glad I gave this show a chance, only started watching it a couple months ago and I'm all caught up.

That was after Simon had already kidnapped Management. I'm talking about before Management got involved. The FBI was staking out Michael's place seemingly before they suspected he might be involved with Gilroy. I doubt the cop Michael shot at was close enough to positively identify him, they seemed to be going on circumstantial suspicion i.e. he's the only guy we know of that has the skills to be involved, so he must be involved.

In the prior episode, I believe Sam (at Michael's request) got the FBI involved because they were going to be needed to stop Gilroy and keep the guy who turned out to be Simon from getting out.

I thought the FBI was after Michael because Simon somehow made it look like Michael was responsible for all the bad things he had done. Management knew what was what, but like I said, Management and the FBI don't talk to each other.

The guy Michael shot at from the jet ski was the FBI agent, I think. It's not a stretch that they are keeping an eye on a dangerous criminal transport and on the scene quickly. Given their ongoing cat-and-mouse with Michael, the guy could have recognized him from a distance. Plus they have cameras in cop cars don't they? The first cop would have a very clear face picture when Michael jumped him right in front of the car.

I think this is what it boils down to. FBI got info that Michael was involved in all those bad things, when in reality it was Simon. That's why they were involved and knew to be looking for him.

I think they just dumped her because she was a colossal bore.
