I have been looking forward to this show since I saw the preview from the upfronts last May. It's got an amazing cast and creative team behind it. Hopefully it does well in it's 13 episodes.

NBC must really be desperate to remake a failed series from the 90's based on a mediocre movie from the 80's.

/\ Mediocre film from the 80's?!?

In any case, I'll be tuning in tonight.

Re: Parenthood -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- 03/02/10

considering the sheer cost just to pay that cast, this has to be a huge hit for NBC to justify keeping it around.

Hopefully Jason Katims comes through and delivers another quality show.

I would hope so too. However, the reviews have not been the best, and those really trite commercial spots NBC has been airing certainly don't help matters!

Terrible? Forgettable? Do you like any of these better?

I'm just happy to see Lauren Graham on tv again.

I'll watch it, but unless NBC had a really bad pilot season, I don't expect to see it back next season. This has got to be a very expensive show.

And 10pm? Seems more like a 9pm show to me.

They really changed Egg's appearance.

I'm sure this is going to get alot of comparisons to Brothers and Sisters.

I'm confidant Katims will give us another solid show. I think he's one of the best writer/producers on TV.

Let's see what the competition is:

CBS: The Good Wife (will win timeslot guaranteed)
ABC: The Forgotten (DOA) and then V
FOX/CW: Local News
TNT: Southland

It's a lock to finish 2nd in the timeslot.

Re: Parenthood -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- 03/02/10

I'm personally really excited for the show, have been since it was announced however long ago. I grew up watching the movie and it still makes me laugh when I catch it on TBS/TNT.

But what surprised me is that I honestly thought like most on this board that the show didn't really stand a chance in hell of surviving. But after some of the reviews I've been reading (Herc from aint it cool news posted blurbs of various reviews), I'm started to get excited that this could really be a great series.

Plus if I'm not mistaken does NBC have nearly enough pilots to fill at least 7 drama slots in the fall?

In case anybody can't tune in tonight, NBC is rebroadcasting the pilot Saturday at 8PM EST, and it will also air at some point this weekend on USA.

As long as Lauren Graham is on my TV, I'll be watching.

How about, "one of the few good movies to come out of the '80s"?

Probably far more than 7 slots... But yeah, they could if they wanted to.

It might get compared to Brothers & Sisters, but I have a feeling it won't be anywhere near as much of a downer as that show usually is. Parenthood will be lighter in tone, at least based on the original film and the previews I've seen of the show.

Lauren Graham and the creative team make me think this is at least worth a shot.

Anyone have a cast shot of the 1990 TV Show?

I like the cast better without Tierney. She always plays characters with a certain glumness. Was figuring more of the same here.

Jeez. Bonnie Bedelia knocking heads on a plane in Die Hard to playing Grandmama? Time flies.

I've been waiting for this for a while. I like Lauren Graham and have been a fan of Peter Krause since Six Feet Under so I'm interested in seeing him doing something new.

^Geez, the 1990s show must have killed the careers of everyone involved...including that little bastard on the far right. ;)
