Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
I know I stand alone regarding this show but I'm looking forward to this episode.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
I like this show too. Esai and Eric have been great. It's hit or miss with the people who are Battlestar fans.
|
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Yeah. Those two are fantastic in their respective scenes but absolutely electric when they play off each other.
|
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Really liked the direction the show stepped into tonight, amping it up finally.

I almost wish it didn't have a connection, character wise, to galactica, because i sometimes spend too much time trying to see formative events in adama's childhood, instead of just enjoying the show. I recall people hating BG when it started "Starbuck's a girl? this sucks. Heresy. blahblahblahbitterfancakes". |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
This show is just so strange and all over the place. So now other then the other stories they've spent time developing they're now giving us a virtual gangster story? I think they're trying to throw a little too much at the wall too early.
|
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
They needed to throw more. This was the first ep where I saw promise for the series. I hope it continues.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
so Bill Adama's sister is Neo

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
"Tamara, you are the one."
|
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
This show is indeed weird and just "out" there.
I'm sort of vibing on the whole Matrix-ish V-World/Tamara subplot, where she's literally a ghost in the machine, but hasn't quite reconciled it, even after learning the truth of it. The Zoe/U-87 subplot is a bit snoozy. The Adamas subplot feels like it's trying to conjure "Once Upon A Time on Caprica". Caprica is a show where I have no idea where it's going because it's sort of wide open, but it's still grounded by the Cylon/BSG link in some respects, but they can take any different route to get to the BSG timeline and either make it exciting or not-so-interesting, I'm hoping for the former. |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
I didn't miss the group marriage/Clarice.
I think that's the weakest part of the show, too hard to take the show seriously with it. Excellent episode this week. Blows away the other episodes except the pilot. Visuals were great. |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Still waiting for PSN to put this up on the store.
I saw that on the SyFy website you have the option to watch the episodes with audio commentary. |

I think that's the weakest part of the show, too hard to take the show seriously with it. The way Caprican/Colonial society is set up is that it's like a Roman Empire that never took up Christianity and destroyed itself. It's almost like Pagan Rome had continued on through its own industrial revolution. It's not really strictly defined what the monotheists believe; they go on about an all-powerful God who has a value system of right and wrong, but we haven't really seen these monotheists being much different than the polytheists other than they lash out violently. The polygamy thing seems more Pagan than Christian (outside of Mormons) so I'm not really sure what they're reacting against. That kids are play-acting human sacrifice games with those holoband things? |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
The monotheism thing doesn't work because it's the same as the Cylon's "One True God", but isn't going to tie into that at all, as that was something the skin jobs came up with, no doubt because of the influence of the final five, who aren't on the scene yet. Plus, it's main function was to kill Zoe so her avatar could be created and later trapped in the Cylon prototype. Hopefully the storyline will be tied up rather than being an integral part of the show for its whole run. The Tauron culture is much more fertile ground.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
After last weeks episode, I'm happy with this one. Seems to be back on track.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Reminding me of a holodeck episode of TNG. Can see the Viper influence on thos planes flying around there.
I wanted them to show Zoe after she ripped her arm off. Thought it was funny when Zoe was walkind down the length of the table and did that jerk thing towards that one person. Imagine the person shit themself when a 7 ft tall robot almost lunged at them. So anyone think that eventually Tamera will be in a Cylon body? |

(Wow, that sounds dorky written out like that.) |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Oy! Today I purchased Caprica: The Series: Season 1: Episode 6: There Is Another Sky (HD/EST/en) for $2.99 from the PlayStation Network PlayStation Store. However, I kept getting an error message and now it won't even allow me to download the episode even though the transaction has already been made. It doesn't even appear as a pending download on the XMB of my PS3. :mad2:
Looking at the PS3 thread this couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time. :( |
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Not sure what to think of this whole V-world thing. Seems pretty goofy.
|
Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
There is a rumor on Spoiler TV that they have already started hiring production staff for season 2, which would start production later this year for a 2011 launch. So even though the ratings haven't been great, that's a promising sign.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
Good. I'm glad they're sticking with it and allowing it to develop an audience.

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
i think this episode was pretty good. ..its starting to get more interesting now ..for me at least

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
I finally watched this episode. I loved how good Zoe felt when her father was praising her as U-87 only to feel hurt when he basically turned his "new race" speech into a slaves-for-sale pitch and ordered her to rip off her arm.
Although perfectly understandable, Tamara's multiple crying fits began to irk me. So of course I was thrilled when she became a gun-toting badass. I'm really digging the Tauron culture. |

Re: Caprica -- "There is Another Sky" -- 02/26/10
I finally sat down and watched Caprica from the beginning all the way through this episode (home recovering from surgery, had been saving them up.). I wasn't so sure about the show after the pilot ep, but as it progressed, it sucked me in. V-World seems to be a kind of Second Life run amuck and that aspect is very interesting. I am loving the whole Tauron culture in a Caprica society - this part hooked my wife. And finally, Graystone and Zoe doing the presentation to the board was well done - you thought it was going one way, then Zoe realizes what her father is planning. I can't wait to see where this show leads. I appreciate that is is not BSG, which was one of my favorite shows.
