Halfway through the episode and I don't really like any of the teams. The only thing that I know is that I'm already tired of the detectives and their "babies"

They just showed the indoor painting. Even after reading about it, its still hilarious, especially the subtitles of the painter watching them.

I want Mormons ... or at least a virgin somewhere. Also, I find myself missing The Black Family After one episode, I feel that this season is missing some personality.

The indoor painting was great..

They look like a good team to watch.
Impressed with the triathlon competing granny.

And the Rodeo boys kicked ass to go from last to 3rd, clearly they overtook 2 teams on the cables, but they must have ran right to the correct street first time, while others took a while.

and in the 30 min penalty quite a few more teams than I expected checked in

How did they come up with a 15 min penalty for losing a paint brush? I swear they make up rules as they go along.
Gay brother was annoying, but for his amazingly accurate Miss South Carolina speech. Dude must have watched it a hundred times on You Tube already.

Yeah, she's the one that said "Danke" to the Chilean painter. Not exactly excelling on the whole geography thing here.

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- Season Premiere -- "Nanna is Kickin' Your Butt" -- 2/14/10

Thought it was a good opening episode.

I liked the new twist with them taking public transportation to LAX instead of driving. However, how in the world did the bus get to LAX 1st over the Metro? With traffic in LA, I thought the Metro would have gotten there faster.

The Gay brother was really getting on my nerves. Even though I don't think they have a chance in hell, I like the Grandma and Grandaughter. Not sure how I feel about Team Big Brother. Jordan seems kind of mousy and annoying. Team Models, especially Caite were stupid for not reading the clue thoroughly.

Sucks about Team High School Sweethearts. The guy's weight and fear of heights screwed them. But, did the wife really need to rub it in our faces how much she loves her husband and how proud she is that he tried his best? I mean they seem like nice people, but Jeez that was a little much.

BTW, I thought it was hilarious that Team Rodeo exchanged their money for Brazillian currency going into Chile before leaving LAX. 1st and foremost, you never ever change American dollars to foreign currency in America. Your going to get ripped off in the exchange rate. And they could have asked if they had Chilean currency? I don't know where they got Brazil out of it.

At the start of the paint challenge, I told my wife "Watch, somebody will find a random house of the same color and start painting that". Not in my wildest dreams did I think they would go INTO a house.

I caught that too. Hilarious!

I also liked the currency goof from the cowboys.

To be fair, there are a lot of Germans living in Chile. Especially since 1945 or so, for some reason.

This may be the dumbest group of contestants ever. They should have put that one team on a flight to China. Fortunately for Miss Teen SC, being hot is more important than being smart.

Why can't they ever cast hot chicks for the token gay couple?

As long as anyone but the Cops wins, it's good by me.

I'm still not sure such a couple exists outside of porn films.

Agreed. I would think having only one brush (which doubles the paint time) should be penalty enough.

Jeff/Jordan, Monique/Shawnee, Dana/Adrian and Carol/Brandy were told to go to Union Station and take the
"LAXFlyway" bus which I guess is a special bus that passes all other stops a regular bus and a metro train
would have to do and goes directly to LAX.

LB...

Most times stupidity is the biggest obstacle in this show.

I thought the paint challenge was probably one it not the weakest challenge this show has ever come up with.

Yet teams still did it wrong and had trouble finding it.

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- Season Premiere -- "Nanna is Kickin' Your Butt" -- 2/14/10

Not really related to this season, but last week I took the kids to go see the Harlem Globetrotters. As you can expect, they really played up the Amazing Race connection. What I didn't know is that Big Easy is the star of the Globetrotters show. He's miked through the entire game, and continually jokes with the crowd, the other players, and the opposing team.

After the game, the entire team stayed after to sign autographs. The kids got to meet Flight Time, which was a thrill for them because they recognized him from TAR.

Only sad part about it all was that I bet $10,000 on the Washington Generals.

We saw the Globetrotters around Christmas, but neither Flight Time nor Big Easy was there. Special K was our miked up guy. I was kinda disappointed.

Perhaps they were told to get to the arena by 7:35 and the only time-keeping devices they had were analog watches?

I think they have 2 or 3 different touring crews, so it's kind of a crapshoot as to whether or not you will get their squad.
