Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Spartacus' disgrace at surrendering to Crixus leads Batiatus to punish him by forcing the Thracian to fight mano a mano in the "pits of the underworld," a hellish, vicious subterranean arena where anything goes. Meanwhile, when the slave girl Naevia rejects Crixus' gift, he misunderstands the reason for her refusal.

This and Smallville appear to be the only original scripted shows tonight. Even Caprica is taking a week off.

I still have to watch last week's episode -- may make it a double-header tonight.

That was the first episode where I wasn't checking the clock.

The fights in the pits were bad ass

FYP

They even had a dude wearing funny looking jewelry playing Tina Turner.

Def the best episode of the series so far. Although Spartacus' constant pining away for his wife is beginning to wear thin. We get it, he loves his wife.

"You wanna face me next?!?!"

I get a chuckle out of the announcement out the start of each episode, telling viewers that the extreme content is all in the name of historical accuracy. Then they go nuts with the camp and comic stylings. I've been entertained though. Another poster had it right when saying you just can't look at this as an attempt to be "Rome". Maybe more like a hard-core "Xena: Warrior Princess", with everything turned up to 11 (from the same producers, no less).

hmmm so how is that guy going to get out of debt. He lost everything and now he has another man's baby to raise. He'll probably die and the other rich guy will move in.

He didn't lose everything, he had put money on both fighters just in case Spartacus was lying again. He lost most of what he had won.

But since the loan shark guy got killed, didn't he just "make" that money back that he owed?

When did the guy he owed money get killed? Batiatus said those two guys that that tried to kill him in the pit were someone's slaves.

I mostly like this show out of a guilty pleasure, but that brief shot where one gladiator removed a fallen one's face really freaked me out.

definitely my guilty pleasure show

I worry how they are going to keep coming up with bigger and badder gladiator opponents

Fights are always entertaining
