Lostpedia used to have a whole list of people/things Smokey officially turned into according to Damon & Carlton, and then other unanswered "visions." I can't remember what was said about Walt.
To me it makes sense that Smokey can only inhabit unburied dead people with how nuts some people on the island are about burying, but Walt is the conundrum.
From a podcast:
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Offi...March_21,_2008
A questioner asks them to comment on "monster forms"; whether certain things are human, apparition, animal, dead, etc.
* Ben's mother Emily = "Apparition."
* Sawyer's wild boar = "Animal."
* Medusa Spider = "Monster."
* Hurley bird = "Oh, I'm not gonna comment on that."
* Dave = "Figment of imagination slash apparition."
* Yemi = "Monster."
* Mikhail's cat Nadia = "Animal. And coincidence."
* Walt = "Walt the person is a person. But there are apparitions of Walt that may not be Walt, and also monster-related."
* Boone in Locke's dream = "Dream."
* Jack = Damon: "Heh. Jack is an apparition. That's gonna be the big twist at the end of this season. He's not only in the future, but he's not real." Carlton: "No, no. He's making a joke!" Damon: "Yes."
* Kate's horse (and Yemi and Christian Shepherd)= Damon: "We have this, this is actually a funny story. We have this board in the um, in the, in the room. With all the actors in the writers room. With all the actors who are on the show. All of the Oceanic 815ers. But then, all of the sort of recurs, like Penny Widmore, and Charles Widmore and..." Carlton: "We have their headshots. So we can keep track of who we have on the show." Damon: "And Matthew Abaddon and... yeah, so everybody. They go onto a door that says "deceased"; once they die, we move them over there. And then there's the door that says "undead". And on the undead door there's only three pictures. One of them is Christian Shephard, and one of them is Yemi. And the other one is..." Carlton: "Kate's horse. Just a picture of a horse. So Kate's horse is undead."

26 pages high and rising. I've heard that after tomorrow night's episode we should have a good idea where they are heading with the show.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if they buried Locke's real body.

I've come to the realization that we won't know what the hell is going on until the final scene. They may make us think we know where it's heading, but it's all just to mislead. (I think I may have trust issues with Lost)

So going into the final episodes it's going to seem that it's starting to become clear to the viewers what's going on but in the finale they'll throw us a curveball and it's going to be ambiguous and unclear what the hell just happened.

Hulu lists runtimes of 43:30 and 42:19 for Parts 1 and 2, respectively. Did the second episode run until 11:05? I honestly don't remember.

as I said, unofficial. I based off the time I started watching the recording off the DVR. With scanning through commercials, the first "half" was finished in 45 minutes, and the second half went by in 40 minutes. Do both parts on Hulu have opening/closing credits?

I theorized a couple years back that the title intro will end up being a metaphor for the show. It's fuzzy/unclear at first(seasons 1-5), gets sharper/more clear as it flies towards the screen(season 6) and at the end(season 6 finale) it's fuzzy/unclear again as it passes out of sight.
So going into the final episodes it's going to seem that it's starting to become clear to the viewers what's going on but in the finale they'll throw us a curveball and it's going to be ambiguous and unclear what the hell just happened.

The producers should just forgo the series finale and conspire with ABC to "cancel" the show one week before it airs.

I would say it hasn't happened, it would be a cheat.
Having these appearances then saying oh it didn't really happen it was just a dream.
They don't have to do it anyway, it can be said they appeared via smokey.

And advertise that the final season BD/DVD sets include the unaired series finale contained on a separate disc. Then have all copies of said disc crap out 20 minutes into the episode.

One more viewing of this episode and I found another tidbit of info. On Sayid's passport it shows a current date at the very bottom which is kind of hard to read but I think it's clear that the year is 2007. I believe the date reads: 5/14/07. This makes the haircut a little more believable for Jack. It also makes sense to go out the window and underneath the water and see the island as it was in 2007 with the buildings falling apart.

That's, of course, what they want you to think. The other 4's on the form have open tops and the other 7 doesn't have a slash through it.
It just makes more sense for both the plane sequence and the underwater sequence to be in the same timeline.
Also, Sayid only had the one picture of Nadia in 2004. This is a completely different picture. He also lists Amsterdam or Australia or Austria in the countries visited probably while working for Ben.

I thought Sayid was Iraqi? Why does he have an Iranian passport?
