Saw the pilot late so didn't want to bump the other thread now. I like the whole cast. I thought the virtual reality stuff would be a bit cheesy but it turned out to be very cool.
A lot of this was filmed in Vancouver which looks like a cool city to visit. Only thing I missed was the space battles. Great start - watched it twice on Hulu already. Hope it can keep things interesting.

The first half seemed a little slow but the 2nd half picked up the pace. Also had a few moments when Surge was cheering on Greystone and Zoey falling through the bed.

Thought it was very slow. It definitely was no "33". I hope it picks up but I wonder if this might just be the tone and pacing that they're going for.

Just a reminder that the pilot is still on iTunes for 99 cents (first half is free, second half is 99 cents for standard definition). I was looking to see if the Rebirth episode was available for purchase (I don't have the syfi network) . It's not yet but I'm sure it will be in a day or two.
Also, on the sy fy network (www.syfy.com), new episodes of Caprica are available online, I assume for free, on Wednesdays (five days after airing).

yeah, not sure about this show at all.
I find it hard to believe that any mom would throw her daughter under the bus like that in front of a huge crowd because she didn't know that she had a boyfriend and she happened to wear an infinity logo pendant.

I find the actress who plays Zoe to be incredibly annoying, both in her line delivery and her face. Since she is the lynch-pin of this whole series, that is a big sticking point for me.

I think Madga who plays Lacy is pretty cute.

I think IMDB says she's only in two episodes??
I'm trying to think if it's possible for this show to make it to the first cylon war.

BSG didn't hook me right away either. I think Caprica is starting a tad slow but I'm in for the long haul.

I'm really enjoying it so far (although I agree that the Mrs. Greystone throwing the daughter under the bus was ridiculous....unless she plans to run for political office or something), but I think they are going to struggle hooking the sci-fi geeky audience.

I am dropping the show, and that scene confirmed in my mind the hackneyed scenes the writers will use as mere plot devices. This show appears mostly to be for devoted Battlestar fans, which I am not.

I don't know, seems they're going for the casual BSG fan. The person that knows there was a BSG, has seen a Cylon before but doesn't know or care about the mythology.

Wife and I are HUGE BSG fans. We thought the pilot was good, but after we watched the first episode both of walked away feeling "meh" about it. Too slow, the Adama scenes don't feel right, the Soldiers of the One are lame, the bit at the end was too random, and the transition between Zoey and Cylon got old fast. I'm not writing it off yet, but I'm not liking it much either.

Also that scene to me was more about the mother's loss and then the feeling of guilt culminating in that moment because she believes that her daughter was responsible and she didn't see the signs and prevent it. So, I can understand that she would just end up blurting it out like that. Not a reason to quit a show over or do people just give nothing a chance anymore. For the people who say it's slow, does everything have to be quick to be good? Does it all have to be space battles and whiz bang to keep your interest? I find Caprica so far to be a more introspective science fiction, dealing with what is consciousness when technology can replicate it, what is a soul and a sociological observation of loss and people's beliefs and religion... which ties into a lot of elements that were touched on with BSG. At it's core it's not an action show, it's a people/society show.

It always bugged me about BSG & this one will do it even more. Way too much modern day Earth items around. Sci-Fi it up some!!! I get that these people will become our ancestors but it makes no sense that we would develop the exact same clothes/technology they have thousands of years later. A few scenes looked like they just filmed on a normal city street. How are we supposed to belive this is another planet when I see cars that I can see looking out my window?

No doubt that Agent guy's been around the Stark residence too looking for corroborating evidence to go along with the forensic evidence they have on Ben.
While I don't find it hard to believe that a mother would stand up against the group that took her child from her in a very public and emotional setting like that, I do think she'd process it all a bit more.
Anyway, I'm ok with Zoe as a rebellious youth that's just basically a bitch. But I do think that the kid playing William Adama is terrible so far. Hopefully his role is downplayed.
That reminds me, when Joseph Adama came by the Graystone household and was denied entry, did the security robot say it was "Joseph Adama"? Seemed like a pretty big oversight to me.

I think the main problem with this show can be illustrated in one scene. So, you've got a killer robot, right? In a show with killer robots, the LAST thing people want to see is it sitting on the edge of a bed moping.
More senseless brutality, less teen angst if you please.
