IDK about Leno, but the audience was just a tad uncomfortable with a couple of those jabs, lol.

AWESOME!

Conan fucking rocks!

Hopefully one day soon Leno loses control of one of his Roaring 20's vehicles and drives in front of one of the Metro-link trains near his hanger where he stores his cars. Then NBC will finally right the wrong and bring back Conan to the Tonight Show, either that or even worse... NBC promotes Fallon.

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?

In case anyone thinks that Kimmel was scripted last night, the version on The Jay Leno Show website only has the first question and omits the rest of the interview.

Jay had to know 99% of what Kimmel was going to dish about. After Kimmel did an ENTIRE show dressed/acting as Leno, then Jay knew what was coming. Jay's not an idiot. If anything, Jay's smarter than all of them. He's the one getting the Tonight Show back and with bigger bucks in his pocket too.

Ultimately, Jay and his manager placed a big bet that Conan would fail at 11:30 by 'temporarily' taking the 10PM slot, and waiting to pounce on getting 11:30 back knowing that NBC is poorly run and would have little patience with Conan's poor ratings.

Not that Jay's egoless, but he doesnt really care what other people think and say. When all is said and done, he has his show back, the ratings will return to where they were before he left 11:30, and the stars and their publicists couldnt care as long as their movies and their stars get the publicity.

That's one way to look at it, or the fact that Jay pushed for the 10pm slot in order to sabotage Conan's lead in knowing it would cause him to look like a failure. Of course I'm sure man of the people Jay Leno is way above such tactics. I mean it's not like he's the kind of guy to hid in a closet to listen in on his competitors meetings or anything.

I don't think there was any way that was scripted. Kimmel's not that good of an actor and Jay just kept it moving instead of using his trademark laugh. I'm sure he's not happy he did that one.

As I noted earlier, it definitely wasn't scripted. An EDITED/CENSORED version was put up on the Jay Leno Show website that ends after the first question.

I'm shocked Leno didn't want to do 12 at 12 with Kimmel.

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/tv....unding-failure

Top NBC executive Dick Ebersol blamed the network's late-night troubles on Conan O'Brien and called The Tonight Show host an "astounding failure," according to The New York Times.
Ebersol, the chairman of NBC Sports and one of the key executives involved in creating Saturday Night Live, accused O'Brien of not adjusting his style to appeal to broader audience when he took the reins of The Tonight Show in June.

Ebersol — who the paper says has long been involved in late-night decisions at NBC — said he met with O'Brien three weeks before O'Brien's move to 11:35 about how to expand his audience. O'Brien's camp confirmed Ebersol and O'Brien's meeting to the Times but did not say what was discussed.
Leno to Conan: "You're welcome"; monologue war continues
"I like Conan enormously personally," Ebersol told the newspaper. "He was just stubborn about not being willing to broaden the appeal of his show."

Ebersol also told the Times that O'Brien and others unfairly placed the blame on the new Tonight Show's poor performance in the ratings on The Jay Leno Show's poor showings at 10/9c. Specifically, he said Leno had smaller lead-in audiences than Letterman on CBS, yet Leno beat his Late Show competition at 11:35.

Ebersol, long known as one of the network's most aggressive negotiators, also famously clashed with several writers and cast members of Saturday Night Live in the early 1980s.
Conan still taping Tonight Show "until somebody tells him not to"
Ebersol also criticized O'Brien, as well as Late Show host David Letterman, for both hosts' remarks these week against Jay Leno and NBC. It's "chicken-hearted and gutless to blame a guy you couldn't beat in the ratings," Ebersol told the Times. "They're just striking out at Jay. It seems like professional jealousy."

Ebersol mentioned NBC Universal chief executive Jeff Zucker, who's widely believed to have played a key role in signing The Tonight Show over to O'Brien in 2009 as well as the attempt to push O'Brien back a half-hour to restore Leno to his old 11:35 time slot.

"Jeff and I are big boys," Ebersol said, referring to Zucker. "When we do something big in the public forum and it doesn't succeed, we know we'll be the butt of criticism."

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?

Can Leno no longer think on his feet? He's being killed by Kimmel, who is coming up with great biting responses and Leno's reaction is to keep reading his inane "comedy" questions.

Yeah, this thread is like watching a 24 hour news channel hoping for a snippet of new information on a big story. Unfortunately, the same comments and arguments keep coming up over and over....only it's from different reporters.

Leno could never do something like this. Conan's a performer, Jay's just a joke-telling robot.
